That's a great story. Good to see at least one young person trying to do the right thing.

I give that kid all the credit in the world, but let's face it, he alone isn't going to change a damn thing. This country is too worried about OTHER countries and not this one. Besides, we have a war on drugs, crime, hunger, AIDS, etc, but no war on homelessness. Why? There's no money to be made from the homeless. There's nothing to tax them on and since that's the case, the gov't basically said "FUCK YOU" to them. And it's not really homeless. It's houselessness. That's what these people need. Visible structures. A home is a state of mind.

Not true. Look at all the people that have made a difference in the world. It starts with one person and grows form there. Plenty of peopel in the US are worried about what goes on here.

Yep, that war on drugs is going even better than that war on alchohol you had in the 20's, keep it up. legalising alchohol ruined society after all!

I respect what you say, but really think about it: this country would rather spend millions of dollars on some foreign country, let's say...Iraq for instance  and help build them houses so their people can have a place to stay, meanwhile our own people are living in boxes under the bridges or in dumpsters. Yes I do agree with you that one person can make a difference, but when it comes to our own people, we have a thing called NIMBY: Not In My Back Yard.

George Carlin had the best idea for homelessness: we have more than enough space in this country for low cost housing.....golf courses. We have around 18,000 golf courses in this country. And golf, being such a boring activity as it is (it's not a sport),is mainly for rich, white guys to gather together and pretend they're masters of the universe. I'd rather build homeless shelters or low cost housing on that ground than waste it on a such a boring activity, but heaven forbid that we actually try to help poor people in this country. We'd rather use the money on foreign nations and help build golf courses.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
it's called colonialism, that is why we build shit in other countries instead of this one. why the hell do you think there are so many homeless people in the first place?

You know why we are in Iraq. It was not to help them build houses. There are a lot of ways to fund programs to help the homeless. I know this may sound mean, but I do not think any person that is in the US illegally has the rights to school, welfare or medical. Those are from the legal US citizens. If we did not have to foot those bills we could take care of the homeless and a lot more.

We're in Iraq for oil, which we haven't gotten any of through us being there. Also we're there so McDonald's, Arby's, etc, can expand. If you know anyone or have relatives in the military and they were over there, ask them where they ate at? I'll bet you anything they'll say places like that.

As for your thought on schools, welfare or medical for illegals....I could not agree more!!!! Just because they are in this country illegally does not give them any right whatsoever to have the same benefits(or lack thereof) as we native born and legal citizens get. I know what some people will say: jeezus he's not gonna attack illegals is he? YES HE IS! Foreign illegals in this country, well first off they should ALL be kicked out NOW! Second, if they want to live in this country, they should go through the process like anyone else and pay their admission cost.
