I erred in my math....it's actually 3 SEC teams ahead of an undefeated Michigan State!! What a crock of shit!

I actually think the pollsters are projecting right on that one. When they go to Iowa City on the 30th the Sparty Party will come to a screeching halt.

I hope I'm wrong about that, but for 44 years they've been so damn dependable.

Bodie, I had issues with his play last season because, as it becomes more and more evident each week THIS SEASON, Pete Carroll mailed in his job last season and we basically sucked ass because our coach had one foot in the NFL and was half-assin' his coaching job

It is the best conference from top to bottom. All other conferences have at most2 powerful teams and the rest of the division is full of powder puffs. Who the hell else is in Boise States conference that is good enough to hold Nick Saban's jock strap? Who else other than Florida State and VT are in the ACC that can clean the mud off of the Razorback's cleats? Nobody son! Nobody.

And the PAC 10s greatness is directly related to how good or bad USC is.

Face it, the SEC is the toughest conference there is. I didn't see anyone else in the other conferences up to the task of knocking off bama this year and florida the year before that and LSU sevearl years ago.

OK let me ask this. How many teams in the SEC have one loss or less? The answer is three. That is the same number as the PAC-10 has. That is two less than both the Big 12 and the Big 10. The SEC West is a beast of a division with two very good teams and two good teams. The East however sucks ass and not in a good way.

My point is that if the SEC has a bunch of teams hovering around .500 it gets played up as Parity. Any other conference in the country has the same situation and it gets played up as a weak conference. Almost every year in every conference you have one or two sometimes three teams that are clearly ahead of everyone else.

Nice to see Texas beat Nebraska in their final year in the Big 12. Hopefully my Sooners also beat Nebraska in the Big 12 championship game.

I was pretty surprised at that one. Just goes to show how good a coach Mack Brown seems to be. To apparently be able to make adjustments/improvements since the loss to OU.

I suppose Nebraska has one more hurdle in Missouri before the stage is set with Neb v OU.

Instead of just posting mindless SEC bullshit, give me a lucid argument why Alabama should be ranked ahead of an undefeated Michigan State team. Alabama....a team who lost to a team that just got beaten by fucking Kentucky (no offense meant to Wildcat fans).

I agree. Mack is a terrific motivator and Muschamp's defense played a nearly flawless game. We'll be back....this is just the beginning. OU has Mizzou as a hurdle next week as well so the cream should rise to the top pretty quick in the Big 12.

No disrespect to what MSU has done. I hope they continue winning. I don't really care where they are ranked (right now) because it is meaningless.

That being said, when the SEC is cannibalizing itself each week, the 'records' will be misleading. Have you watched So. Carolina play this year? They ARE a good team. Have you seen Bama play this year? They ARE a good team.

We'll see at the end of the year, I suppose

I think regardless of what happens, the only thing that will ultimately prove if the SEC is indeed head and shoulders above all other conferences is what will their overall bowl record be. I do feel the SEC is the #1 conference, but how good they are I don't think we'll find out until January.

I hear and understand where several of you are coming from on this, it's just that I still think Sparty is the third best team in the conference, so I can't put them in my top ten until they beat Iowa.

It's too bad too that they don't play OSU - there's not a lot of depth in their schedule.

Why in the world do the computers pick LSU #2 ???

Okay what is it.:dunno:Tell me what is the fuckin' deal do I have to say what everyone is afraid to say.Boise and TCU everyone is afraid to play them we all know it is true.Everyone well not everyone they (Boise and TCU) they don't play anybody that because what major power wants to play them and take a loss I would rather take a loss early than late.Now having said that put the in the SEC are the a .500 team I don't know might be or maybe the PAC-10.I guess we will never know because no one wants to play them by the way I'm speaking for FSU as well I'm still shocked we pulled the BYU card.Anyway that first set of BCS ranking was shitty but that is just me it is still early and a lot of football left to be played I will say this their won't be a SEC playing in the National Champion if they do I will be stunned.

Boy, you don't pay attention much do you? People have been saying that strength of schedule is a very big determining factor in the rankings. We have a saying down here in SEC football country regarding the matter as it pertains to the other conferences: "Your roar is really easy to be heard when you are the only bear in the forest, but when a forest contains about 4 or 5 other bears, it becomes a bit more difficult to distinguish who the baddest bear in the forest is."

Not saying that the other schools like Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, TCU, Oregon, Ohio State(begrudgingly)and Boise don't deserve respect. On the contrary, I recognize them as good football schools and I do watch many of their games(especially Oregon.) However, when you have earned your stripes taking down other bears rather than preying on the sheep that inhabit your neck of the woods, it becomes pretty clear who the baddest mofo on the block is.

As for Kentucky taking down South Carolina who took down Alabama, well hell man, this IS football. Upsets do happen you know. So much so that there is a popular saying that addresses the matter in three words..."Any Given Sunday" or in the case of college ball "Any Given Saturday". Alabama lost to a good team and has had to play more tough teams than Michigan has and will continue to do so until the end of the season. When you are in the SEC, there is no such thing as an easy game in the conference. This conference is more upset prone than all the other ones because everyone is so battle tested.
