If you want to to put a Marc Bolan song in this ... I'd put "Bang a Gong - Get It On" before I'd even consider "20th Century Boy"... but that's just me.

As for Keith Richards, here's one...

Slash gets the nod for Sweet Child O' Mine.

I would have added the intros to Welcome To The Jungle and Paradise City as well.

An interesting list. I too would choose something from Slash I believe but who knows really as there is so much good shit out there in spite of what we selectively could think think is crap or sub-par to our standards.

From Zeppelin I would go with Kashmir but I fuckin' love that song so....

If you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings including this one.
This is why I hate lists like this.9 times out of 10,they seem to get it totally wrong.Case in point,Why the fuck is Led Zeppelin's Kashmir not in the top 5?! Fuck, why is it not in the top 3?!:dunno:

Probably THE most iconic guitar riff of all time from arguably the greatest band of all time.

These lists are a fucking joke.

I agree zell.

If you're going to put John Lee Hooker's song, "Boom Boom" in, Muddy Waters classic "Mannish Boy" deserves equal consideration.

Say hello to my little friend!
'Hook' is the common slang term for a riff. A riff is basically a motif, which gets repeated throughout the song or piece.

Riffs aren't exclusively found in rock 'n roll. Riffs, or motives, are the building blocks of music.

A hook can be a riff, but it can be something else too though, like a vocal or a lyric.
And the subject of this list is '50 Greatest Guitar Riffs in Rock and Roll' not the 50 greatest riff's in any kind of music. So the list fails IMO for that reason.
