History repeats itself, and that's quite unfortunate in this case. I have no doubt that some of the same people who were getting their panties in a twist over "race-mixing" and "miscegenation" then are also upset about health care reform today. (The ignorance, the cheap and oh-so-convenient smearing, and the easy-open cans of Red-baiting, and quite possibly just simple racism and bigotry - same shit, different time) Or some of the offspring of these people, those who didn't fall far from the parental tree...

Pathetic ...

And leftists wonder why they lose people when they make these types of comparisons?

You could take any assembly of people and do the same, but you take this one. That's just awesome rhetoric at its finest! Why don't you use the same example the next time the gay and lesbian parade hits your hometown? ;)

Dude, it's the right to assemble. People do it for different reasons. The more leftists try to paint people as racists, the more you will just get ignored and make their argument more valid.

Because yours isn't. Truth. Hey, don't mind me, I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Without making race a component of every issue, does the GOP have a reason to exist?

I don't see how the GOP (or if they decide to call themselves the New Libertarians, or the Tea Party, whatever) will ever win any national election with policies (like immigration) which are openly hostile to non-whites. :dunno: Healthcare is an issue that's atleast hostile to whites too....is that progress?

When any Republican makes the fatal mistake of calling themselves a Libertarian, I challenge them. Most fail.

American Libertarians don't take kindly to people calling themselves Libertarians when they are not. Whether we're talking Democrat leaning individuals like Bill Mar who are Libertarian-Socialists to typical right-wingers who play on fiscally conservative.

The American Libertarian party is Libertarian-Capitalist, not Libertarian-Facists, Libertarian-Socalist, Totalitarian-Facist or Totalitarian-Capitalist. If people disagree, they should clarify what they are, and not trying to pass themselves off as newfound Libertarians.

What can I buy for 100 FreeOnes points?
Ideology aside, why don't people on both sides think about how they will be perceived by future generations before they decide where they will stand?

I look at that picture Facial King ingeniously posted, and I can't help but shake my head, thinking about how backward and ignorant and borderline-evil these people seem, even though they didn't see themselves as that at the time.

It sucks to be on the wrong side of history. Just ask the Germans.

So we are supposed to be a Republic based on the rule of law, and it's "hostile" to enforce the law? The larger problem is that no offense, but your argument is based on "feelings" and not logic. That is the biggest problem we have right now... and it needs to stop. We have reason and we need to use it. It's the biggest protection we have against demagogues who come along and promise to give people something, and people vote for them expecting that something for free. Nothing is free. And all this does is spiral us further down the road of a huge, intrusive government when that is CLEARLY not what America is all about.

Whatchoo talkin bout titsrock?
I havn't heard a republican mention race once in I can't remember how long.
Democrats, that seems to be all they talk about.
And that ain't progress.

I am a conservative, and I'll take this opportunity to mention race.
Obama was voted in by blacks who voted for him because although he is only half black, he portrays himself as black.
(surprised the black chics voted for him, knowing he came out of a white womb)
And guilty feeling misinformed white people who were conditioned by the media to hate anything republican (not too mention McCain was a shit choice).
I voted for an african american, I'm such a good person
There I helped prove your point.

Talk about basing an argument on feelings. Any reasonable person can conclude that the present oligopoly based approach to health insurance is expensive and inefficient and doesn't give us the UNDISPUTED GREATEST HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IN THE WORLD.

As an American...I want nothing but the best and I'm willing to pay for it in taxes. The idea that a market-based health insurance system includes "pre-existing denial" clauses (when the healthcare is most needed) works against the usefulness of the market itself.

People who oppose healthcare reform are supporting a position that is hostile to rural whites, for sure.

So all the white people showing up protesting healthcare reform are racist to whites?:dunno::confused:

^Most of the people showing up to protest healthcare don't realize they're harming themselves. They are there for reasons that do not correspond to actual reform--they are there for reasons such as: "they want to start death panels!" "they want to take away my medicare!" "they want to subsidize abortions!".

None of those reasons pertain to healthcare reform.

So how does that answer the question that I asked? First they are hostile towards their own race, now they are hostile towards themselves. Ugh I am

^Because no real reform to the healthcare system continues the status quo. The status quo harms rural whites directly (who can't afford to pay high out of pocket costs for treatments that get denied by their health insurance company).

I never said whites were being racist toward other whites, btw. I said the GOP's "no reform" policies are hostile to whites (rural, Joe the Plumber whites specifically).

I would guess that 99% of all Tea Party Militia Protesters do not live within a city and 50% don't have any employer-based healthcare.

Well, it sounds like I'm right on one account anyway. A tea party express (bus?) rolling into Pittsburgh from..."the heartland" I suppose. Say hi to Glen and O'Rally for me
