I always used to read "judge not lest ye be judged" in the porn related topics. Larry and co always seem to pull that one out whenever they need to make a point.
Not easy words to live by, and not for the use of smut peddlers either. At least not to justify any wrongdoing.
Here's a good example to follow, shown in this small article:
http://thinksmart.typepad.com/good_morning_thinkers/2004/06/nelson_mandela_.html
I grew up in South Africa, in all 4 provinces. I traveled a lot, meeting
a lot of different folk.
Never in my life did I experience raw racist hatred like I did when I returned to the States.
I met the brother of the recent President, Thabo Mbeki. I saw hatred in his eyes. But still, they tried to work together, to listen to economists, other political views.
Everyone, and I do mean everyone, points a finger at South Africa, judges South Africa. There, everything got blamed on the "White Man." Yes, the Afrikaners did do some terrible things. The point is, in their hearts they did not accept Black people, mostly based on what they were taught. The actions were not so bad as the automatic negative expectations.
The English actually introduced 'seperateness' or apartheid as it became known. Initially Whites and Blacks got on just fine. Note, there is an enormous "Coloured," (aka known here in the USA as interracial population) there, that speaks Afrikaans.
The point is, in the human heart is where change occurs. Once people decide to forgive, to work together, then a nation can be built.
Truth is various Black populations in S.A. have been at each others throats for decades as well.
The sad thing is, I don't see it happening in the States. I am trying my little bit each day. The Black guys I meet each day I try smile at and talk to as naturally as I can.
There are those you can see came from some very dark side of the street. But maybe one person can make a difference, influence someone. Word spreads you know.
This might be an isolated incident, but, I know from experience that Black people expect to "take over," to "have power," rule, dominate, do whatever they want.
Gee, I wonder where they learned that from.........
This vid tells me that this lot go back home, pat themselves on the back, and tell their friends about it, who from peer pressure and to be a "brother," condone such activity.
And so it spreads.
There needs to be a moral base, a foundation. That is seriously missing here. Now it is do what you want.
I agree even intellectual Blacks are simmering with hate. they might want real change, but the hatred is so ingrained.
Now with the economic situation, it adds fuel to the fire.
Blacks and Whites can work together. We can turn this whole thing around.
If S.A. did it, so can we.
If this had happened in S.A., they would have received a fair trial, then be locked up in the already overcrowded prisons.
Whites would have protested, some would have said well, we are partly to blame, Blacks would have likely felt ashamed, and used the incident to try the hell better next time.
Of course if that Jacob Zuma leader gets into power with his residual hatred it may go, well, south. All it takes is someone with a loud enough voice to stir up a following.
Right is right, though, and that behaviour in that vid is downright disturbing. If I had had an Uzi, I might have protected these girls.
It is so freakin' hard not to be racist some days, but it also hard to forgive and try patiently to explain and pour oil on troubled waters.
