Has any porn starlet been successful after porn - or is their past just too much that it will haunt them forever? Would employers hire them if they "knew"? I would think some would just get married and hide their past - and have babies. Others get fat- that noone would notice. Any examples of starlets transitioning to the real world?

Traci Lords is the only one with a successful career in Hollywood after porn. There´s some others that´s done some roles here and there in movies and TV-shows (Ginger Lynn and Ashlyn Gere for example).

It is maybe less current in North America but in Europe, mainly in France, some do get popular doing something else after porn even tough everybody knows their past.
Catherine Ringer. She did some of the most heavy types of harcore scenes (being pissed on and shitting on some guys) and she became the singer of a rock band (quite good) called Rita Mitsuko. At one point it was the most popular French rock band.
Dolly Golden is now starting to play in mainstream movies and had a good scene (not sex scene of course

The vast majority of porn starlets are not known outside the world of porn. Therefore it's safe to presume that when they have retired from the porn "business" they can find employment with the knowledge that their previous "career" will be unknown to any prospective employer.

There's an Italian congresswoman called La Cicciolina that was that country's most popular pornstar in the 70's and 80's before getting elected to public office. I think she quit porn in the early 90's, and she's still a congresswoman.

Most porn stars retire without gaining much celebrity status or fame so it's no problem for them to transition into something else.
Since 99.9% of them don't use their real names...you're not likely to see "Letha Weapons" or "Ava Lauren" or "Candy Manson" on a job app...
