Maybe the administration sends them a little note showing how much it costs, reminds them that we're in a bit or a recession the likes of which probably haven't been seen since their organization's inception...Then asks whether we can afford fly-overs at the request of every private organization who thinks their particular cause worthy.

If so, I'll be the first to request a fly-over for a beach bbq I'm planning in a couple of weeks.:glugglug:

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Isn't this festival contradicting that whole "separation of church and state" principle that's in the First Amendment? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Pick one to support and go from there. Tax dollars definitely should not be spent in support of religious functions. Period.

It's a step in the right direction. Now if we could only get the government to stop flybys at sporting events and other things it would be a lot better. I have never seen those things as anything other than a colossal waste of money.

When I grow up I’m gonna be a mod
Surely anyone requesting an Air Force fly-over for a function should fund it themselves? There's absolutely zero reason that tax money should go towards a fly-over ever, it's just an aesthetic display - you're hardly going to expect your tax money to pay for the decor and such (then again, my council rates pay for the bunting and fund the July 12th parades that celebrate the butchery of my ancestors, but you guys are meant to have your taxes sorted better than ours).

In allot of cases these fly-overs are incorporated as part of planned maneuvers and all that need be done is request a year in advance.

For example, maneuvers out of Edwards AFB, CA are planned every year on Jan. 1. Incorporated into the planned maneuvers is a Rose Bowl fly-over merely time coordinated.

Ummm...yeah, that seems like a pretty convenient excuse. I guess those colored contrails must be a part of the training also. Somehow I don't think it's that important for the pilots to have to do that, when they can be doing other better things that aren't over a heavily populated area no less.

The next thing you know some government law enforcement agency is going to have to conduct some "training" and they will give some celebrity free security when the training "coincidently" happens at the same time as the celebrity needs it.

"Contrails" are only created above 25k ft.:2 cents:

And I'm just stating the facts. You do know that any no op flight is part of planned maneuvers right? Even over "heavily populated" areas.
