ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The former fiance of Gov. Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter says he believes he knows why the Alaska governor is resigning — concerns over money.

Nineteen-year-old Levi Johnston, whose wedding to Bristol Palin was called off earlier this year, says he thinks the governor is resigning over personal finances.
Johnston says he lived with the Palin family from early December to the second week in January. He claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that were being offered, deals that included a reality show and a book.

Isn't the Alaskan legislature split? She's really much weaker and immature if she quit her governorship because she didn't have a supermajority to bow to her every whim:dunno:

What a wonderful world some of you live in where you can substitute whatever you think in place of the facts. Both bodies of the Alaska state legislature are Republican run and it's the smallest state legislature in the country.

If she can't get anything done under THOSE circumstances she is definitely in waaaaay over her head and her quitting is probably in the best interests of Alaskans for sure.

He is just a kid. He wasn't running for office. We wouldn't have heard of him if the Governor hadn't dragged him into the limelight. He is a celebrity of her making.

Apparently Joe six pack is allowed to have opinions, he is just not allowed to have them about Mrs Palin.

Actually Levi is probably right.This is probably what this was all about,cashin in while the opportunity is there.Actually not a stupid thing for Palin to do.Her political career IMO had its 15 minutes and peaked with her VP pick.She will be unheard of soon so now is the time to take the offers Levi mentions and at least make some dough.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – An independent investigator has found evidence that Gov. Sarah Palin may have violated ethics laws by trading on her position in seeking money for legal fees, in the latest legal distraction for the former vice presidential candidate as she prepares to leave office this week.
The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.

An investigator for the state Personnel Board says in his July 14 report that there is probable cause to believe Palin used or attempted to use her official position for personal gain because she authorized the creation of the trust as the "official" legal defense fund.

The practical effect of the ruling on Palin will be more financial than anything else. The report recommends that Palin refuse to accept payment from the defense fund, and that the complaint be resolved without a formal hearing before the board.

This legal fund seems fraught with unethical slush fund potential. Alaska seems very backward/backwoods. It's a clever strategy by her to claim she was only doing her job and to blame other people for her not being able to "do her job."
