alcohol and next morning numbness

curiousWAN

I know my sig is too big, but...
how do you get rid of this? it's not headache or being a bit drunk still or feeling off balance. it's like as if world is a quiter place, your mind thinking the void, even when i write these words a part of my mind definitely doing something else, even though i can perfectly do the things i used to do, i can't concentrate only one certain thing and lost track of time. even though i said this is being numb, it feels like i'm more aware, able to think more than a few things somehow. weird... i mean, it feels scary like as if i can levitate things if i want to or something. it's like as if some spiritual part of my brain activated... i receive weird signals. it feels like those signals are meaningful and it's just me who can't read them, more of those brain parts should be activated for that while i want to turn the open one off.

you probably can't understand this if you never feel like it. i never meditated but i'm guessing this should be how ppl feels when they "reach nirvana"... you are more open to the world with a certain distance.

i don't even know why i'm writing this.

i've experienced nirvana more than a few times naturally ever since i was a teenager but never after alcohol. alcohol does not lend itself to such a phenomenon as far i know and i've had lots of experiences with alcohol.:2 cents:

Well the weird thing about it is when your drunk you feel relaxed and out of it, but the morning after your either still out of it, or like you mentioned, slightly numbed, in trance, not aware of your every day problems, in balance, more spiritually aware of things, you see the bigger picture, if you know what I mean. One thing I love after a night out is sitting outside in the cold breeze with a cup of coffee, thinking about life.

All of it is due to the alcohol withdrawal probably, but yes, it does feel a bit weird sometimes. Focused but more aware of things is a good description

 I've got dementia, hastened along with alcoholism so I've been that way for years. The good thing is yes, you focus on one thing.. life seems far away and people are just sort of.. *there*.

You're not aware of space/time. It could be any day of the week, and you're not 100% sure of what month it is. Take time to look at the leaves, watch the water ripple. Then for fuck's sake eat some healthy food, down something with a lotta sugar while refilling your body's water supply and you'll be back to "Edgy, overcaffeinated consumer" in no time!

.. but you'll find yourself wanting life dulled more and more. Welcome to genetic alcoholism, it's a friggin' PART of you and you ACTIVATED IT, now! Guah hah! Whoo... ::downs my long island and prepares another:: Fucking 10 A.M.

Two things to watch out for.. when your skin feels really dry.. you're dangerously dehydrated. Throw a few glasses into yourself.

Nervous twitches/shakes. Hold your hand up every couple of hours and check yer status. Shakes = GO DETOX!

i'm not in there yet, i mean shaking hands and skin dryness etc... probably going there and most possibly you are right about genetics since my dad keep drinking and smoking until they remove his bladder...

actually, i want to know what's going on in your brain "after" you get "really" drunk. especially while sleeping. this thing can't be explained with dehydration or toxication. maybe when you drink so much you almost completely turn your brain off and when you wake up it's getting refreshed and working much better and you don't like it? maybe you kill so many brain cells, and new cells getting produced and this is why?

as i said, this is not your usual numbness. it's like feeling beyond everything. things are not changed, people were always there. it's just you, who understands? they are just people, things are not that important anyway? why should i care too much and concentrate with %100 of my brain on one certain thing? this %10 can easily deal with it and i can think about... not thinking. no need to bounce of the walls, no need to impress losers, what's the meaning of life? go jump from balcony? survival insticts activated! death... oh don't think about death but everything goes there. the deeper you think the more your thoughts ends up with death.

I know the feeling - and my cure for it is to either go for a long 5 miles run or get out my bike and do a 50 miles spin

Why was my picture deleted?
Topic creator, I've felt EXACTLY what you're feeling! I'm shocked, cause I thought I was just screwed up. When I feel that I feel like everything's really quiet and... distant.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
Well if it feels as if you're foot is asleep or if it feels like pins and needles in your toes, it's a sign that you're body is slightly closer to shutting down from the drinking. I had to learn that one the hard way, so just be a little careful. I have gotten what you had but only after a multiple day drinking binge, I just attributed it to exhaustion. It actually lasts for about 2 days for me which was a shitty feeling. I just start pounding the water and gatorade, alka-seltzer works well for some people and eat. Even if you don't feel like eating, try and force-feed yourself, the food will help absorb any remaining alcohol in your system

You're basically suffering from lack of restful sleep. You don't get much real REM sleep, the kind where your body heals itself, and rests up for the next day, when you sleep drunk. Also, you're dehydrated. That's why it's good to chug a glass of water, or maybe OJ right before you hit the sack. Maybe swallow an advil with it.

I know, if you wake up with a hangover, your body is overly dehydrated. Alot of water, and some good food, to help soak up some of the toxins, can help with that. About the whole 'trance' thing, I wouldn't know.

Cheers man.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Drink a few glasses of water and have an advil before you go to sleep. And drink a gatorade in the morning. Eat some eggs too.

Ooh, man. Even better than gatorade. Try a vitamin water. I woke up with this super killer hangover this one morning not too long ago. It was so bad, it mugged me and took my wallet. lol. But I chugged one of those vitamin waters, and ate a couple of those churro thingies, from 7-11, and it knocked it right out of the park.
