Amazing day at the blackjack tables

Jack Davenport

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
I played blackjack on one of the casino boats today. I bought in for 1000 dollars at a 25 dollar minimum table. My bets ranged from 25 to 300 dollars a hand. The first hour I was up 2700 dollars I was catching all my splits and double downs. During one run I got 5 blackjacks in a row. the dealer never had it during that run. By the second hour I was up 6300 dollars. I decided to make a table max bet 1000 dollars ( the most I have ever bet on one hand) because I was up so much. Bam! I got a blackjack that paid 1500 dollars.

Left up over 9000 dollars. I will savor this day because I have never experienced a string of luck like this before in my life.

Now I wish I had been betting more. :)

Any other blackjack players here? I would like to hear some of your experiences good and bad.

I was on this blackjack team back in my days at MIT, kinda got talked into it by this hot girl, and ended up making a lot of money only to discover one morning that the db coach stole it all. I think the experience made it into a movie or a book.

Blackjack team? Were you counters? Maybe this is a reference to the movie you mentioned that I have never seen. :D

If only I could have made that kind of cash. Roughly 4-5 grand after taxes?

Unless your pro or something stay the fuck away from betting that much for a while.

Ahhh yes 21 .

As for the taxes, the casino boat travels offshore which is considered international waters so the winnings were not taxable.

You are one lucky bas%ard. My grandma taught my siblings, cousins, and me to play blackjack using toothpicks as "money". Probably not a good thing to teach to an 8 year old, but I love her regardless.

Awesome! Congrats Blue Countach, enjoy your winnings!

When I turned 21, I went to Las Vegas and won about $4200 playing blackjack and let it ride. That's the best I've ever done.

As for taxes, they don't give you a form unless you cash in for over $10,000 I think. But that's for casinos on American land. So you're good there! And whatever winnings you claim on your taxes, you can offset with losses....if I understand correctly.

It's a strange game. I can almost feel it when it is going to be a bad day and equally so if I am having a good run. I never had to worry about money management today. I won't play for a couple of weeks. I don't want to give it back to them.

If you are a US citizen, all worldwide income is taxable no matter where you earn it. If you a resident of a foreign country you may exclude some but in this case all offshore income would be fully taxable.

Um.. I took 10,200 dollars worth of chips to the cage and they gave me 10,200 dollars. cash. No 1099. That is the way it works on these casino boats. And I am not complaining one bit.

Definitely a game of streaks.

How many decks did they use on the boat? I'd be a little nervous going on one of those that travel out to international waters because there's nothing keeping them from cheating. Of course it sounds like a legit operation if you win 10 grand!

When you lose you definitely question it for sure. They used 6 decks.

On the 5 dollar and 10 dollar tables they use 8 decks.

No 1099 means the IRS will not be notified, but you still are suppose to report it on your tax return. If you are caught you will have to pay the tax and your only excuse would be ignorance of the tax law. Don't put the money in a bank or anywhere it can be traced.

You are correct and you can cash in 9,999 within a 24 hour period without the 1099 on land based casinos..

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
why bother having a real job?

I never gamble with more money then I can afford to lose, which actually would put me at zero dollars, but depending on how fast it takes me to lose 20 bucks, my limit is 40.

which makes my winnings usually around...40 bucks.

I guess it's a little easier when losing $100 isn't a weeks paycheck thrown out the window.
