Getting involved in Syria is purely to keep Israel from being forced to do it.

We as a country gain nothing from either side of the fight, Assad is a dictator and Al Qadea is fighting with the rebels.

If we give give guns and training to the rebels we would be arming and training the perpetrators of 911??? What American wants that???

On the flip side units of Hezbollah are actively engaged in fighting for the Assad regime. The Assad side has already tried to ship high tech rockets and possibly WMDs to Hezbollah and my friends Israel is having none of that.

Just a no win, zero advantage, giant cluster fuck of potential disaster that we should steer clear of let Israel do its own dirty work.

Yes, because genocide always ends up solving more problems than those preceded it, or those that it might inevitably create. Suggesting that the only way that the world (or solely the United States, I can't tell who you're hinting at) can solve another country's problems is by obliterating them completely makes about as much sense as Hitler saying Jews were responsible for the world's decline.

I don't view them as putting up resistance solely to spite Obama, I sincerely believe that some of them don't want to get involved in this unless they actually feel we have to. Yes, some of them have essentially been accusing Obama of using a Catch-22 and doublethink during this whole debacle and will no doubt use this waffling as means of saying he's an unfit President, but I welcome any debate brought forth by sensible Democrats or Republicans as to what we should do to not become involved in something that didn't concern us before and ultimately will carry on whether we act upon it or not.

Unfortunately this is a valid point, genocide is ultimately the only way to guarantee a lasting peace. This is of course an unacceptable course of action but history proves time again that if you eliminate your rivals the is no one to question your rules.

I'm not even sure (from a logical or objective standpoint) how one would go about proving the nonexistence of anyone, much less an omnipotent spirit. Trying to tear down someone's religion or belief system just seems like a sure fire way to piss them off even more, IMO.

As Rey already stated, you can't really prove a negative - especially not in this case. However, there's something to be explored here - the Islamic world was once the pinnacle of science and civilization (we're talking a millennium ago), while it is quite obviously not today. How this happened is naturally a source of debate, but one can nonetheless see a correlation in the timeline of growing religiosity to declining thought and civilization. Ironically what many in the US would love to do there with Christianity.

As a cautionary tale, it's really worth researching.
