Another Fatal Shooting Near Ferguson

PS

If you hit a person without a gun in the knee caps, they will go down and not advance.

That is what logic thinking is and Police do take target practice training year round as part of their job.

Keep baiting and trolling posters you don't like with your stupid creative pics.

So someone points out the inadequacy of your point of view with concise, factual rebuttal and you put them on ignore. Perfect. That's exactly what I'd expect from the intolerant left because as everyone knows, their viewpoint is the only one that matters and they can never weigh the merits of the truth when trying to appeal to the low information crowd. Telling people what they need to hear is harder than telling them what they want to hear. Suck it, douche bag.

The vast majority of police never discharge their weapon for their entire career. Police killings are less than 1000 per year nationwide and only 30% of rounds fired hit their targets. Cops don't want to use their guns. Each instance of discharge if followed up with a report. This tells me that police use their weapons only when absolutely necessary. They could be responding to a simple domestic dispute or some dip shit robbing a 7-11 with guns ablaze. These instances are rare but in real time. Shoot him in the knees or shoulders, give me a break. It's easy to stand on the sidelines and play Monday morning quarterback.

^^^^^^^

Taking aim and shooting at a distance would lead to inaccuracy.

But if someone has a knife, they have to come up on you and the closer they are the easier it is to be accurate to hit him/her in a non fatal area.

Hell just shoot them in the crotch and blow their penis off. At least the suspect has a chance to live.

A person with a knife far away is not a threat with a person with a gun.

You're a fucking retard. If a person is thumping on your skull with or without a weapon and you fear for your life, you are allowed to defend yourself with deadly force. Look up the Continuum of force and pull your head out of your ass.

If I were a police officer and I thought my life were in danger to that degree I would take the shot to the best location most likely to stop the fella cold. Why should I jeopardize my life? All I want to do is get home to my family in one piece. Should I also risk leaving them without a husband and father?

You make it sound so simple but think about it in real time. The cop is standing there with gun in holster dealing with a situation. Suddenly a knife is shown and charging. The cop is already close to the knife. There's no time to pull and aim at arms or crotch. And like I said before, these are rare situations. Don't expect them to have that quick draw from the hip or want them to have their guns in their hands talking to people to resolve a situation.

Also if you shoot to the meat of the torso less chance for over-penetration and hitting someone who's actually innocent. A bystander catching one is filed under the category of "not good".

Maybe then it's time for police departments to start investing in tasers. The ones that throw two prongs out 5-10 yards.

There have been accounts of violent aggressors being shot up to 19 (nineteen) times at point blank range, two of those times in the head, before they went down.

Cops in my town certainly do not have year round training. In fact, lots of them despise it and would avoid it if it weren't mandatory to keep their jobs. The minimum they must do every six months is 19 rounds in a pistol. Have to hit the target with 80% accuracy, I think.

38 rounds for the entire year. Many law-abiding civilians can outshoot cops.

It's a fantasy to think that all cops are soldiers with years of training with firearms. Not trying to be rude to you, just pointing out that it's not always true (if at all?).

You are not being rude and Dino, Bob, and yourself in a civil way are making me think again on what cops face when threaten.

Tasers are at best a complement to lethal force, never an alternative. Plus, the more options, i.e. gadgets, that you give the officer and the more rules you impose on them regarding where, when and how to use what on whom etc. the slower they will react.

Personally, I rather see dead bad guys and assholes than dead officers.
