Why would he resign? The guy made a mistake like all of us humans tend to do from time to time. The difference between when you or I make a mistake? no one cares enough when we make them to put them on national television.
The only reason Anthony is being attacked so much is because he has done a lot of good politically and has been a strong figure against a lot of the hypocrisy in politics. Sure he lied to the public like all of us would feel pressured to do when confronted with the same situation.
The bottom line is it took him only 10 days to come forward and confess to shit that lets face it is none of the publics business. And dont give me that people look up to him as a congressman bs. Who the hell looks up to a congressman? No one. Respect and support him? Yes but people are too busy looking up to some celebrity to even know who he was/is before this.
As far as more women coming out with "evidence" I would be cautious to believe what some random women come forward and claim to be fact when attention and $$$ are up for grabs for doing so.
And please lets not forget what the man actually did, he sent some photos and was flirtatious to some women. He didn't actually fuck anyone. Who gives a shit, esp on a website like this where almost everything that anyone types on this site would be considered worse in the media than what this guy did. One thing he did do is lie to his newly married to wife and that should be and looks to be his main concern.
I for one will continue to support him and hope that we can get back to real issues that are in dire need of being addressed and not some guys personal marital issues.

Even Clinton didn't lie as there is a reasonable case that him saying he didn't have sex with ML is plausible as most people don't consider getting a blowjob per se sex. In other words, most men I know wouldn't say they had sex with a woman if she just blew him or he ate her. If a guy told me he had sex with a chick and it turned she just blew him, I would consider him having lied about it to me. Still, most people were probably off-put by Starr spilling his investigation of Whitewater into a case about a blowjob as well.
In Weiner's case, he did the deed then stated unequivocally that he didn't. There is no room for interpretation in what he said and did.
He has really lost his credibility in a practical sense that his judgement is questionable IMO based on his confusing actions. I almost question a degree of his sanity after some of his actions subsequent to this story breaking....

Most people I know would consider a blow job having sex. They would probably also think having "sexual relations" fits the act even better. Thinking a blow job is something else is not only unrealistic with the view of most people it seems like a gigantic amount of rationalizing. There is no way I would buy the excuse if somebody told me that as a way to try to make it sound like they didn't have sex with somebody.

You have never told a lie in your life? Especially one that was told because the question being asked was from someone that was asking something that was none of their business? How about an entire nation asking a personal question? Its easy to point a finger when the pressure isnt actually on you.
I personally Love Clinton and think he was a great president but what he did is in no way comparable to this situation. He actually had sex during work hours when married.. Yes had sex because like D rock I cant think of anyone I know who doesnt think a blowjob is a form of sex. Now with saying that I think he was wrong, do I think he was a bad president? No I dont because he made a human error. Period end of story. One mistakes doesnt define us as human beings let alone as politicians.
I agree with you in that what you or I know about the situation with Anthony seems incredible dumb for him to do.. Well some of it, because a lot of this took place when he was a single man and a single man can show his dick/body to anyone who wants to see it IMO. But me or you dont know the whole story and even if we did know it these sexual decisions were all consensual, not criminal and do not reflect on his views as a politician. Its not like he lied about a fact or statistic like so many politicians do everyday, he lied about something personal and something he was embarrassed about.
That is such a proud moment for all americans to watch. Someone actually standing up against the insane political voting system we have set into place that is holding up things like healthcare from getting passed. If you think that is crazy then you my friend are the crazy one.
One thing people need to remember is the fact that Weiner is in a position where integrity is of utmost importance (even if few actually have any). The fact that he lied about it has permanently damaged any integrity he ever had, and have made it virtually to be an effective legislator. When will people learn...telling a lie to start with, ALWAYS makes things harder on you in the end. Besides, comparing him to John Q. Public is like comparing apples to oranges. I'm sure most would agree that our elected officials should and must be held to a far higher standard & that they should be leading by example.
Unlike Clinton, evidently Weiner was not well liked by his Democratic colleagues to begin with. If you are well liked, in Washington, usually you can weather any storm if you so choose to stay and fight. I believe the fact that he was not and is not well-liked to begin with is the final nail in his coffin. You can stick a fork in Weiner...he's done!
Finally, there are FAR more important things that Washington, the media, and society at large should be focusing our attention on...and here we are again being distracted by more silly ass shit!

I agree about Clinton (straight down the line). One need only look at his INTENT. And clearly Clinton's INTENT in his answer to "that question" was to deceive and out right lie. To me that equates to zero integrity in my book.:2 cents:
If Clinton had been honest and forthright in his answers during that deposition, and to the American people, and Congress had any sense about them (I mean they KNEW they would never get more than an impeachment...he was never going to be convicted and removed from office by the Senate), they could have saved the American people lots of time and money that could have been devoted to other, more serious matters...and maybe, just maybe, something like 9/11 could have even been prevented.

You could insert the name of many a politician from either side of the aisle in lieu of Weiner's and make the exact same statement. I didn't see David Vitter resign and he actually solicited hookers, Clinton let an aide suck him off in the White House and remained POTUS, etc....not condoning what Weiner did, just pointing out the hypocrisy of anyone calling for his resignation. There's no precedent that would or should compel him to do so.
I say let the voters in his district determine whether he should continue to represent them in November of 2012 unless he makes a personal decision to do otherwise beforehand.
