I can't imagine how a young white man in the racist Jim Crow era South could possibly have grown up with misguided racist tendencies. Robert Byrd renounced his racist views and the KKK later in his adult life, a true example of the power of rational intellect and learned reason recognizing something that is wrong and correcting it.
