Any Alienware users out there?

I am looking for anyone with an Alienware computer.

The new m17x preferably.

My questions are...
1. Is the new Alienware product (m17x) better than the other ones before it?

2. Did you find any problems with the new Alienware computer?

Reason I ask is because I'm looking to buy a new computer for about 2k-3k. I've been told to stay away from them. Well I was told to run away if someone ever tried to sell me one. I'd like some information since dell has taken over and they're pretty trustable. I own a dell 2.2k dell computer currently.

That's a low end Alienware computer, but Alienware is pretty decent.

Because of Dell's acquisition of Alienware, their products are pretty similar, unless you're willing to pay for the namesake. Another company that makes high end gaming computers is Falcon Northwest, and I hear positive reviews of their stuff quite often.

Yea, I'm looking to overpay for the name. The new computer just looks amazing.

I used to Love Alienware products a few years ago so I ended up buying one of their high end laptops for around 4k after I received it and dealing with their customers service I realized it was a semi nice product but WAY overpriced. After I sent it back I ended up pricing out/buying an HP with the same specs and it saved me 2k and I havent had one problem with my HP

50% of your money will be going toward the name but since that's what you want then go for it. The only problem seems to be the battery life...pretty weak.

yeah i know alienware is mostly paying for the name, but people will pay it cuase its a GAMING RIG, and ALIENZZZ its a scam for 10 years olds with parents who have deep pockets

putting a destktop is easy but laptops are a whole other story all together, not only are some of the parts hart to find but they are super expensive unless you buy them wholesale
so it's still a better deal to just "customize" one from dell, hp, or any other computer builder
from my experience with alienware they use the same components are everyone else, just paint the cases, and i've seen someone rattle can his laptop to look way better than you basic alienware(he took it apart first and taped off the ports and what not)

It would be nice to find a laptop with some of the Alienwares cool aspects.

Their site is way too confusing for me. Alienwares site was very easy to navigate. I'm not going to waste my time on a site like that.

There are a ton of places that will build custom rigs, but Falcon Northwest is the only one that I've never heard any complaints about.

Yea, they look really good, but I honestly can't figure out the site.

Personally, I really love their stuff. Only had the chance to use one of their monster notebooks at a LAN party, and it rocks.

If you have the cash - go for it. And beyond the performance, you can enjoy the looks of that machine
