What's the deal with their service site? It simply doesn't work at all. I need to reload the audio driver on my comp and it keeps giving me an error message when I click their drivers.
Forget the site, and call them. Yes, you will talk to someone in the middle east but they will send out a tech (someone local in your area) to your house (if you are under warranty). I have a Dell and I've have to do this. Just pray you get someone that you can understand their english. There is an American Dell phone line support, but they will charge you a fee. Where as the overseas support is free. Hope that helps!
Don't worry, I got it. It was my audio driver after I re-installed my OS. I found out after some digging that it was my browser (IE) of all things! Never again will I use IE - the new Google Chrome I have downloaded is so much faster and better.
^^ What he said. If you're going to get a 'disposable' laptop, get a Dell. Cheap to buy, cheap to fix, cheap to replace and, actually - for the money - pretty damn reliable and functional.
I have had nothing but dell computers for the last 8 years. I will go with no other company. I've had hardware/software problems, and they have resolved the issues VERY quickly.
I'm extremely happy with my dell. It is way more stable than a mac, and it costs about 30% as much.

yupyup ... the strap on my laptop bag snapped a few weeks ago, Dell laptop smashes to ground, screen lid breaks open, guts everywhere, bits of plastic all over the place. Tucked them all back, bound everything up with duct tape (oh yes!) and prayers .. still going strong
worked before from 2008 till april 2011 on a 2000 dell celeron that used to run on windows 2000 pro service pack 4 was an absolute slow piece of shit, had to kick it to make it go faster.
My last three systems have been Dell's, and I will never go back. I usually end up getting a mid-line system, then Frankensteining the hell out of it to my liking. Both that I have are about 10 years old, run like champs thanks to occasional upgrades by yours truly.
