howard jones is not thier original singer and the frist album i enjoyed much better. but adam is one funny dude. his comic value is only reason i like them nver bought the albums.

Howard Jones is funny and Adam d. is a total goof ball,in a good way. Watching behind the scenes stuff in the live dvd is a crack up. He's an amazing producer as well, he produces albums for lots of bands.

Picked up the new Killswitch and listened to the the first 5 tracks in the car,which is the worst place to listen to a new album for the 1st time to get an impression, but I will have to say it sounds repetitive with their more recent efforts and I dont care for the studio sound one bit.
Theres no meat and potatoes to the sound. Its sounds too processed,airy and reverberated.

About 1/2 those bands you listed are such processed trash that is basically pushed by mainstream radio that it is scary. I will admit, though, that Godsmack truly surprised me live. DAMN good performance. Flaw is hideous live, and the lead singer is a douche (though aren't most?), but he has some serious pipes (mother was an opera diva).

I can tell you dont know anything about what you speak of. All these bands and Metal as a whole are as far from pushed by mainstream radio as it gets.
I would love for you to list 5 underground stations that would play this stuff.Thats how far from radio Metal is these days.
As far as their studio sound being processed garbage, theres more Iron Maiden albums that used a ton of effects then all the albums by these bands put together,believe it sir. These bands keep it raw bro.

No, by processed, I mean over engineered. The sound quality makes them nearly unlistenable. KE's last 2 discs sound like utter shit (though the songs are great). Shadows Fall, BFMV, and Disturbed all sound like ass on their recordings (and Disturbed is so hit and miss live that it's scary). Tool and Sevendust are both bands that care about what gets released. Oh, and I actually quit listening to terrestrial radio about 3 years ago. At least the Sirius stations will play something new.

Yep! Nu-metal is the name of the genre. Started roughly in the very late 90's and even the classic Metal bands are using the Nu-metal formula for song writing these days. They gotta go where the $$$$$ is,its ashame but thats how it works.
