I've been playing about 8 years. I used to play in a metal/hardcore band a few years ago. Now I just screw around with some friends just for fun. Me and a friend play open mics around the city once in a while too.

You should give it a shot. It's ok if you're lazy. You can sit naked in a La-Z-Boy and learn. It's awesome.

i play drums but sold my set before moving out here

pedals i have a creamy dreamer, electoharmonix holy grail, an ibanez smashbox, and.. something else i cant remember right now..

i play a little of everything. was once decent on piano.

a cheap 100-125 dollar acoustic is your best bet for a learner. try an ibanez brand. if i had an acoustic to start with rather than an electric, i would be much more advanced than i am now.

Anything Epiphone. They are basically lower end Gibsons, but they sound great, and you can usually get a decent guitar for cheap. I bought mine for $200.

Don't get one of those beginner sets. Usually sound and feel like garbage and can be discouraging for someone learning.

PRS makes great guitars. I want one, but they are quite expensi....wait. Did you say skin flute?

My son is actually a much better musician than I am but we share the passion. We have a really sweet mahogany Martin a/e and a slick ash-body Rickenbacker. Also, we have a couple of basses, 2 mandolins (one is electric; he can play bass and mandolin, not me), a banjo (can't figure that thing out to save my life!) and a nice fat hollow-body Ibanez....not to mention a couple of run-of-the-mill Strats and an old Epiphone acoustic made when Epiphone was Epiphone, not Gibson.

I love music and instruments. Such an emotional release.
