Anyone been to the Consumer Electronics Expo (CES)?

Does my bum look big on this forum?
Might sound like an odd question to ask here, but since the convention is held at the same time in the same building (I think) as the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, I thought maybe some people here could have went.

The reason I am asking is because I was wondering how hard it would be to get in. I know it is industry only, but I don't know how hard they research attendee information.

I was thinking about giving it a shot. I could get a business card easy enough, and I could just strech the truth a bit and says our business is in the electronics industry. It wouldn't even be a TOTAL lie, since we do occasionally sell products to electronics manufacturers. I'm in the insulation business, BTW. I know someone was thinking I sold a hamburger to a guy with a laptop or something :1orglaugh

I've been trying to jusfiy a trip to Vegas for quite a while, so if I can get in to both of these expos, that would be justification enough for me.

IIRC, the G4 channel broadcast live from the CES show last year. And also did a late night special on AAE. Edited of course. :(

I've never been, but would love to go. To both shows. :D

By the way, do you know when the shows are this year?

I'd like to go the CES show, big time.

AVN. Meh, I guess...

Next show is January 8-10, 2010.
I think I remeber G4 coverage of the shows as well. Show coverage is one of the last good things left on G4.

That and Olivia Munn :D

Agreed. But I also must add the cute as hell, Alison Haislip and Kristen Adams. :D

Yup. E3 (for what is left of that slowly slippery slope fiasco. As well as CES. Do they still have some coverage of Defcon?

I remember TechTV (ah, how it still brings a tear to my eye remembering the greatness of TechTV) used to cover that as well.

I don't think they do, however, I am capable of wishful thinking.

TechTV became G4. But little, if anything, remains. :(

We went in '02. Had a legitimate reason to go, but just had a business card to verify it. They didn't ask any questions. I doubt they turn away anyone who pre-registers. BTW Not the same location as AEE.

E3 is on the comeback trail. 2009's show was a vast improvement over the "downsized" '07 - 08' expos.
Can't say I remember DefCon coverage (that's the hacker's convention, right?) on G4. They seem to be covering a good number of conventions lately, so who knows, maybe they'll bring that back some day.

TechTV was pretty cool. My only gripe was it seemed like they showed that "robot wars" show way too much.

ScreenSavers, Unscrewed, and couple other shows would cover DefCon back when TechTV was around, and I believe a year after the merge, then everything about TEchTV died except X-Play.

Kevin Rose would usually cover it in person, along with Dan, sometimes a couple others. Leo and Pat would hold down the studio fort :D

Dammit! I miss TechTV :(

Is CES open to the public? Or is it more like SEMA?

I always thought it was open to the public. Unless people win raffles or entries to partake in going.

I think it's open to the public, but I'm not positive. I love all things gadgets! Would love to go.
