Many moons ago I worked for ups. Anyhow they lost a rather expensive package a few days ago. I bought an hd led projector off ebay and seller ships it to my po box. Which ups doesn't deliver to. Post office knows nothing. I trace package and ups says they are attempting delivery 3 days ago. They leave it on the doorstep of my old apt without anyone signing for it. I haven't lived there in months and I'm sure there are some new ppl there too. I check today and surely no box is there. I called ups and they are sending someone to "recover" it but no word yet. What would y'all do.. and am I covered by ebay/paypal for this sort of thing. I would think its sellers fault for upsing to a po box and ups fault for not holding it at their terminal

I worked for a company shipping the modems and so on via DHL. I understand every major shipping company has some variation of 'Track and Tracing', which means you get a transaction number on the receipt of your shipped item.

With that transaction ID you can contact them and they can find out where exactly your shipment is right now. Call the customer service phone number, and they will be able to help you, otherwise you can use the receipt for legal action.

Oh I see they put it on your doorstep? That would mean the last in line of shipment, the delivery guy has made a serious mistake. But the shipping company is the legal entitiy who is responsible. Read the fine print of the shipping contract or on the info sheet at the shipping station or on their website. Is loss covered, and if so, up to what sum?

'Recovering' the package can take a few days, so don't go all 'red alert' right now. The inner workings of a shipping company can be mysterious.

But if you don't have the package in three days, get serious with them.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Packages especially from these couriers should always be signed for and never be simply left outside a door

I'm watching some specialist videos
As Ulysses says, it is up to UPS. It is in their care, and they have not got proof of delivery.

I had Fedex leave a package my brother bought for his wife at my house. It was for christmas and it was an expensive new camcorder.

Bastard left it in a plastic bag in the bushes. No signature required....lame-asses.

Honestly I think these companies are so rushed for time they honestly don't give a shit who gets it as long as it's off their trucks.

Hope you get compensation without having to sue someone.

I did seasonal work for UPS only last year. I worked a while for RPS before they became FedEx.

UPS is always leaving packages at my parents place and of course where I'm at. Considering it's a big city and certainly far from crime free, it always pisses me off when they just leave it out on the steps in the open. Hard to believe I've never had anything ripped off that way. Although, I did get robbed via MO for a piece of music production equipment five years ago, after a huge investigation I did wind up getting my $ back.

My advice would be to go through Ebay and Paypal. UPS most likely will tell you to take a hike. :2 cents:

Stop a FedEx driver and say "You sonofvabiitch you stole my package from Otto the UPS guy!!!" And if that doesn't work your pretty much screwed.

went to the UPS office in person. they say its the delivery guys fault and he will have to go back to the 'bad' address and recover the package (which is no longer on the doorstep) from the new residents. good luck with that. they say the driver will have to pay for it if he cant get it back. i filed a paypal claim anyway... the sellers being a dickhead because the product is out of their hands (even though their dumbass was the one who UPS'd a box to a PO box address) so will see what happens. Either way i want my package or refund soon
