I can't remember what I said 100 posts ago!
yeah i walk an hour every moring and an hour every night followed by 100 toe touches and 100 situps and some weight lifting but i have the worst luck weight training im always pulling or ripping a muscle hell i was sidelines 6 months when i ripped my chest muscle and that was painful as hell so make sure you talk to a pro 1st dont be stupid like em and think your macho and joe cool and can do anything

lifting weights stay with 8 reps...if you cant do it 8 times= to much weight.........10 times = not enough weight...<<trust me..i been to the hospital 5 times during my time in the gym.....keep this in mind..if you lift heavy everytime you go to the gym there is only 2 things that can happen,,,,if your not on roids your gunna get hurt...if you are on roids.....its a shortcut to hell

I was certified trainer through ACE and AFAA when I was in college. I worked as a trainer for three years.
I lift and do cardio four times a week:
Sunday: 45 min cardio, legs
Tuesday: delts, traps, triceps, 20 min cardio
Thursday: back, abs, 20 min cardio
Saturday:10 min cardio, chest, biceps, stretching

hmmm......I go through cycles. A few weeks heavy down to one rep (max out like we said in high school).
And a few weeks lighter, higher reps, supersets sometimes.
But for legs I almost always do high reps, around 20.
But always to failure except the first set.

So, How much ya bench?

Myth 1: Men want sex more than women
I'm a skinny kind of guy with a ridiculously fast metabolism. When I joined my gym they told me that I should do very little cardio and mostly weights otherwise I would lose weight. I'm one of those guys who wants to take the weight gain stuff but I know that unless I'm exerting the appropriate amount of kinetic energy then it'd just be like I'm drinking fat. I guess what I need to do is work out some kind of schedule but what puts me off is the realisation that to do that would mean a significant amount of concerntration and focus. I thought I could just turn up at the gym and do some shit and I'd be a bit better off physically than I am now. turns out it's a lot more commitment than I first thought.

You can't have everything! Where would you put it?!
I played my last game of rugby at age 40. Since then I do a lot more rowing machine and stationary bike than running. To me it is not the same, but I had to get with the idea that being fit and being healthy were not always the same thing. Low impact is the way to go. I did a fun run a few months ago for a fund raiser and was saddened by some of the people I couldn't keep up with anymore. For the rest of the day I was planning a rematch with half of them in my head. You have to let it go.

The biggest change with aging is that the food end of things never used to matter. These days lapses with beer and bad food are immediately obvious. I have a friend who is a shot putt champion in the over 65's division. (How cool is that?) Whenever we meet at the gym we always respond to the "how ya doin" with "I'm just managing the decline."

Hey, just wondering if anyone here lifts on a regular basis. Ever since I started lifting I've been able to become hard more easily, bigger, and been able to last longer. It's amazing what working out will do for your sex life.

On a side note, I'm actually working on becoming a personal trainer. Anyone here a personal trainer? Has anyone taken the ACSM certifaction test?

I actually do quite a bit of weight .... alot of cardio , too .... but the weights have helped my performances alot ! My stamina ... which was actually pretty good already ... went thru the roof ! LOL ! Can't say I had any experience with becoming harder ... haha .... but it has done me alot of good !

I'm not a personal trainer .... but I've been working out with one , as well for quite some time. Helps push me to a different level than I would get to on my own !

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
i do movements from tae kwon do and jujitsu seven days a week. at one time i did hours and hours a week, but now i do about 25-30 minutes a day. it helps with all of the things you've mentioned plus concentration and mental stamina.

anyone think tae kwon do isn't a work out is invited to try to keep up with me in the movements some morning.

(and i'm level two black in jujitsu, never tested in tae kwon do, for those who care)

I lift every other day. I love lifting weights and the results of becoming stronger. Pull-ups and push-ups give an excellent workout too.
