Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
it doesn't cost more, and it really isn't any more work. and it's more of a "pain" to torture living creatures that can feel pain and fear just the same as you and me. I mean if you admit that you don't give a shit who and what you fuck over so that you can live as easily and carefree as possible, at least i'll respect your honesty. I'll still think you are an asshole, but it's better then an asshole that's just making excuses.

PS. whoever said that they hunt and catch thier own food, I don't have any problem with that.

when the native americans were forced onto reservations they were also made from a hunter/gatherer society to an agricultural one. after a generation of two they all forgot how to hunt for food. the reason for this: because a people that has no knowledge of how to use weapons for survival is easy to come in and exterminate.

I am tempted to ignore the shear nonsense of people saying that they are healthier/stronger for eating meat, but I guess i'll take the bait ( no pun intended). the vegetables that I eat provide me with protein, calcium, and all the neccesary vitamins that the health association recomends a person should intake. so what exactly does meat have in it, besides those things that I just named that is so much better for you? could it be fat and cholesteral?

and as for going above and beyond just the "normal".. I have a freind that has never eaten meat in his life, he's a body builder, a wrestler, a football player, and he's worked on a fireman crew.

not exactly a scrawny skinny stringbean.

I love to eat meat. If it wasn't for pigs and cows I don't know how I would survive.

I am going to say this in as nice a way as I know how. I don't care about any pain an animal has to suffer. It is an animal. Now that doesn't mean that I will go out of my way to hurt them, but if they feel pain when they are hunted I don't care. Animals are not people. They are not sentient beings, and do not have the capacity to think and have emotion like we do. It isn't like they are some intelligent alien species that I am putting down. Why should I feel any different when I kill them than I would feel watching some cat or hawk kill a mouse?

Also would you like to know what vegetables you take that will provide you with the same or better protein intake as meat, and will have as many different types of amino acids, would cost less, and would allow you body to absorb it all day long. I take whey protein because I do weight training, but it can run around 6-9 dollars a pound, and is for quickly providing my body protein after a workout. I still need meat in my regular diet, and yes people do need fat and cholesterol in there diet as well. The fact some people take too much is not my problem.

If your friend is really a bodybuilder, your friend is either
1. lying about never eating meat.
2. incredibly genetically gifted
3. or spends a tremendous amount of effort circumventing his need for meat.

Reminds me of a site for vegan bodybuilders... all of the ones pictured were as big as the normal ones. In the end, other competetors voiced that none of the vegan BBs were vegan - they were spotted, caught, whatever. (Don't forget that the "oil" most of them shoot is an animal by-product...)

I would disagree with the harsh "I don't care" sentiment. I care deeply about the welfare and ethical, humane treatment of animals. I do believe that they are here to serve us, not being our equals. I do live in a country where it is possible to have certifications that the animals are born, raised, fed and slaughtered in an ethical manner. I do go out of my way to buy these types of foods.

-- All that said, and I cannot believe that my dogs are not, or will not be waiting for me in heaven... :angels: But, I suppose the man and dog relationship is unique in the world, them having been by us since we walked upright --

no shit that animals aren't people. what exactly do you consider "sentient" thought to be? the ability to produce a written language and manufacture products? by defintion sentient means the abilty to be aware and respond to stimulation. all animals posses this, and even the lowest forms that have no seperate nerve mass that regulate body functions (a brain) can still comprehend thier surroundings on a cellular level. since you probbily don't eat much jelly fish and spongues anyways, there is no doubt that all mamals fit into the defintion of sentience. also many animal species have complex relationships and social structures and some can manufacture tools and shelters to use. it's also been studied and confirmed that all brained animals can feel emotions, and thier behaviour demonstrates this consistantly.
so really your belief that you are somehow different from other animals, is just that, a belief that is not founded on any logical or scientific evidence. in other words, just imagining something isn't a good enough deomstartion of it's proof among educated people.
the reason that hawks eat mice is not the same reason that you eat cows and chickens. hawks eat mice because they live in an area where mice live. because they are unable to pick up horses and eat them, they eat things that are about the size of mice. the reason that they live in the area with the mice instead of any other area where they would eat things other then mice is because in that area they have no predators. unlike hawks, humans have no predators anywhere, so we can eat anything anywhere. hawks, like humans can survive off of eating only vegetables, on a purely nutritional level. unlike humans, on a physical level, hawks are much smaller and much more active so they burn far more calories and need more then a human does, because of this if they were to take the time to gather all the vegetables it would take to support them physically, they would die from the effort before they were able to accomplish this, that's why they eat a high calorie easy to catch mouse instead.
as much as some of you may believe it, this is not the case with people. there are vegetarians in the world and not all of them are starving to death.

I eat animals! And I love it! :)

Meat is one of the most important food there is. Its absolutely stupid to go vegetarian just to "save animals" or something.

Of course there are people that are impatient with (<- is that the right term?) meat. Because of an allergy or whatsoever. Thats of course a different story then.

^^ #58 Sheesh. I got a shock there for a minute, looking at my old avatar. I thought, what happened!!!

I really prefer vegetables. Nice, creamy boccolli. Yummy. And nuts and raisins with morning food. Oh I love salads.

It is just the thought of how animals are slaughtered has really put me off ever eating meat again. I have been told not all abattoirs are brutal though.

Funny how one starts salivating when passing by the steak bar. I feel so Klingon sometimes.
