I have voted "For", becasue for a long time now I have felt very strongly against them who commit acts of cold blooded murder. It makes me sick the shit I hear on the news what people are doing to innocent people on the streets, taking them down abandonded paths and slaughting them like animals, kids being sexually assulated and left for dead in empty fields. There seems to be more and more sickos committing these dirty nasty crimes and I believe those who take a life should have thier life taken, I believe anyone who kills anything even animals should suffer the same fate as a punishment to let them know "You only come this way once" !!!!!

Can I borrow your virginity?
I am all for it.....and i dont look at it as a vindictive thing, like its something to make the family of the vicims feel better.....if a person commits cold blooded murder, they void their right to live, and deserve to die as much as their victm didnt deserve to die. Im not sayong it's warranted in every case, but i have no problem with someone dying for their crimes, should the crimes be brutal and cold blooded.

For. The death penalty has stemmed back through generations and is the ultimate punishment for a crime. It is far less savage than some of these foreign countries that vicously mutilate there criminals. I think a more interesting poll would be whether or not women should recieve the death penalty?

Are you suggesting that women should be excluded from the death penalty, but men should not?

I wonder what feminists would think about that one? :)

NO. I didn't state by opinion about women in the death penalty in my reply. I am simply wondering what other members think about women and the death penalty. I personally feel that equal rights includes everything, good or bad.

If FreeOnes was a woman, I'd marry her!
i think it depends on the crime!
but for some criminals death penalty should be the only penalty!!!!
so i ll go for "For" option!

No. I do not think women should be excluded from the death penalty - if men are being executed.
Or just about anything else. If not anything else. They are equal with men in every way (other then brute strength possibly). Thusly they should be treated as such.

I was looking at these polls and it reminded me of a conversation I once had. What about asking the relationship between believing in god and being for/against the death penalty. The reason I bring this up is, I know some over-the-top religious people (IMO) and they are some of the biggest supporters of the death penalty. It just seems like a HUGE contradiction to me. They never did explain the correlation.

It's good to be the king...
Unsure - while some criminals (Harold Shipman, Ian Huntley, David Berkowitz) deserves the ultimate punishment for their crimes, if the UK had the death penalty, the Birmingham Six would have probably been executed instead of being pardoned.
Also I worry about cases where some sections of the media seeks to influence verdicts (Huntley's associate, Maxine Carr is an example).
