Are you unemployed? If so for how long? Or do you know anyone who is unemployed as a result of the down economy here in the states?

I am unemployed. I had quit my job back in December 2008 and moved with the intentions of a better job lined up. That job fell though and I scrambled putting out applications after applications. I spent most of 2009 homeless because of it. I ended up getting my old job back with a severe cut in pay with limited hours. Then in October I found out it was temp and I was let go since the job was on the beach and the business "just wasn't there."

I've probably filled out about 3,000 job applications since December 2008. I have never received one bad review from any supervisor and have always went well above and beyond what was required of me in my previous jobs. I left each employer in good standing. Just today I've filled out 5 applications. I have applications all across the US. I am willing to move and start new roots in any city as long as the job can pay me whatever the cost of living is in that city (ie rent, bills, food).

Sorry to hear about that. I'll probably end up on the struggling root as well in years to come...but even those who struggled for a bit seem to find a way to come back. I'm usually unemployed from Dec to April. I went back to work last week.

Actually its no laughing matter, the economy is sickly nowadays.
Its bad.
Man I hope it gets better.

One reason I left the USA at least for the time being was because of the job market.
Anybody can go abroad and teech English.

I was unemployed twice in the last 3 years. Lost a long time job in 2008 and after a year and a half of finding a new job, I ended up losing that one, again because of the economy. I've been employed for almost a year now.

A lot of the people that are unemployed are people that want to work, they're just having a hard time finding a job.

Its reading up on the sad stories of those being affected by the economy downturn that makes me thankful I own my own business. I mean, I feel the effect of the shitty economy as a camgirl, but at the end of the day, I still have a job. Sorry to all those who've lost jobs :/

I must have applied for 50 jobs during 2009 and 2010 but never got a single phone call. I had a job interview a few weeks ago, but it was a shady job that was offering comission pay, and the guy interviewing me flat out lied about a bunch of crap so I decided not to pursue that job.

don't you hate when you apply for a job, they need help and you are ready willing and able to start immediatlely but some human resource cunt is collecting like 100+ applications just to show cause for her almost uselesss job?

I found this out in my younger and more vulnerable years.
It insults my intelligence......makes me very angry.
