These commercials piss me off. It shows just how fucking pathetic humans really are.

The commercials themselves, or the information they contain about 'pathetic humanity'?

I sometimes volunteer for the Canadian equivalent; and M'Lady both works for them and a vet hospital. It is truly sickening how many animals are brought in for euthanising simply because the owners have decided the pet no longer suits their life/lifestyle.

Equally sickening, is the phenomenon of the 'summer pet' ... every Fall, shelters up here are swamped with strays. Why? Because holiday home owners like having a cat or dog around during their warm summer months by the lake in their nice family vacation cottage. But then when they close up for the season, they just throw the pet out into the street/bush go back to their city condo and forget all about that life ... until next season, when they replace it with a new one.

I fucking hate people, sometimes.

The information. It about the only thing that offends me. The way people treat animals is appalling!

i always change the channel if they come on. i cant take it.

whats funny is a donated some time and money to a certain charity that actually makes some of those commercials. i say they're pretty effective if you ask me.

The worst part is that those commercials are preaching to the choir: the people with a sense of humanity who would never hurt an animal are the ones who are affected by the commercials, while shit stains who abuse animals don't get the message at all.

You're absolutely right, but if only one person is made to think twice, and if that results in one animal not being abused, then they have - in one small, but important way, made the world a better place today.

You just reminded me of a part in Schindler's List where Schindler gets a ring from his workers that is engraved with a passage from the Torah that says, "He who saves one life saves the world entire." My throat always knots up when I get to that part.

FWIW, These profiles are moderately interesting.

It's nice to know that the ASPCA is out there doing good work, I'll eagerly pay extra taxes to support them.

Really? How in the fucking world could anybody have the conscience to do this?
I couldn't even become a foster pet parent, I get too attached to the cute innocent little fuzzies.

Yeah watching those make me want to buy a farm upstate and give those animals a safe place with lots of space to live.
