FBI's newest 'Most Wanted' terrorist is American
By DEVLIN BARRETT – 8 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — For the first time, an accused domestic terrorist is being added to the FBI's list of "Most Wanted" terror suspects.

Daniel Andreas San Diego, a 31-year-old computer specialist from Berkeley, Calif., is wanted for the 2003 bombings of two corporate offices in California.

Authorities describe San Diego as an animal rights activist who turned to bomb attacks and say he has tattoo that proclaims, "It only takes a spark."

A law enforcement official said the FBI was to announce Tuesday that San Diego was being added to the "Most Wanted" terrorist list. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the announcement ahead of time.

San Diego would be the 24th person on the list, and the only domestic terror suspect.

FBI spokesman Richard Kolko declined to comment on the pending announcement.

The move to add a domestic, left-wing terrorist to the list comes only days after the Obama administration was criticized for internal reports suggesting some military veterans could be susceptible to right-wing extremist recruiters or commit lone acts of violence. That prompted angry reactions from some lawmakers and veterans groups.

An arrest warrant was issued for San Diego after the 2003 bombings in northern California of the corporate offices of Chiron Corp., a biotechnology firm, and at Shaklee Corp., a nutrition and cosmetics company. The explosions caused minor damages and no injuries.

A group calling itself "Revolutionary Cells" took responsibility for the blasts, telling followers in a series of e-mails that Chiron and Shaklee had been targeted for their ties to a research company that conducted drug and chemical experiments on animals.

Officials have offered a $250,000 reward for information leading to his capture, five times the reward amounts offered for other so-called eco-terrorists wanted in the U.S.

In February, the FBI announced San Diego may be living in Costa Rica, possibly working with Americans or people who speak English in the Central American country.

Law enforcement officials describe San Diego as a strict vegan who possesses a 9mm handgun. On his abdomen, he has images of burning and collapsing buildings.

The FBI's "Most Wanted" terrorist list is distinct from the much longer-running "Ten Most Wanted" list. Al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden is on both.

There is another American already on the list, but he is wanted for his work overseas for al-Qaida. Adam Yahiye Gadahn grew up in California but moved to Pakistan and works as a translator and consultant to al-Qaida.

one of the biggest problems we have in America todya is the politicizing of everything. Someone actually complained there were too many "right-wing" potential terrorists on a list so there was a need to add a "left-wing" terrorist. Holy fuck, take a deep breath and realize what you are saying.

It is not "your way or Guantanamo Bay." The country was founded on the prinicples of finding a middle ground. Something everyone could live with. instead, we have become a nation of self-absorbed, selfish pricks who have little or no tolerance for opposing opinions.

If someone breaks the law, he is a criminal. Try him, and if convicted, throw his ass in jail or execute him. It doesn't matter what his politcal slant is, he is a criminal. 'Nuff said.

another big problemis my typos, dammit

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
I find it pretty funny that this scary terrorist is a computer nerd that caused some vandalism and didn't hurt anyone. big deal.

Interesting to see what all those other so-called revolutionaries that are advocating government overthrow think about this. They probably think that the guy is a god damned commie and should be executed for destroying sacred private property instead of taking a shot at Obama.

Speaking of those "Tea Parties"... in the original ones they dumped tea into the harbor, so if you are pissed off about paying taxes, shouldn't you be dumping your money into the water fountain? If you want to call it a Tea Party, that only makes sense.

Either that or blowing up some corporate property.

By whom? The British or the Colonists? Do you think the Israelis considered Menachem Begin a terrorist?

By the english and those loyal to the crown I think the answer is yes.As one of them said (John Adams I think) "we eithier hang together or we will surely HANG seperately".If they had lost they would have been hung as traitors.
Let me add while were on terrorists and the founding fathers the british army also felt that many fighting for the revolution fought in a way which was without honor and contrary to the accepted rules of warfare.Americans were hiding behind tress and shooting british soldiers etc.The brits were used to armies meeting in formation on open fields of battle. In their mind the colonists fighting this way were definately illegal combatants fighting dirty.

I was thinking by the US government. Because I do NOT think those gents would be very happy to see what it's become.

*understatement of the year*

Certainly the Brits saw them as terrorists at the time.

Well, the US didn't have a "US government" at the time and I think "those gents" might be proud of the fact that what they started has now become the greatest nation this world has ever seen. And their ideals are being realized in the sense that the country they started is now the most desired place to come to for opportunity in the world.

But I guess it would just depend on your outlook.

Somehow I don't think asshole B.O.'s friends Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright were included on this list. It just baffles me how the hell they got left off?

He committed acts of terrorism. He should be on the list...as should anyone going around blowing up buildings.

i disagree when he kills someone or manages to take a building down i'd say yes but at this point he's done what amounts to vandalism, i suppose it's a question of should we watch people who may do something or people who have done something. at this point he hasn't done much to warrant a $250,000 reward and a spot on the most wanted list.

Rittermeister

Just here for the words.
Setting a bomb is an inherently dangerous act. Whether or not he killed anyone is irrelevent; the potential for great harm was there. If I got drunk and drove down the highway shooting at people as I went past, but missed and only shot out a few windows, I'd still be charged with considerably more than vandalism and destruction of property. I'd say anyone who goes about setting bombs in populated areas is worthy of inclusion on the most wanted list.

A naive glossed over view of history...the English and French had war with native Americans long before the Revolutionary War (they didn't line up in rows);and snipers were employed by all the European armies in various conflicts...any advantage was considered OK...otherwise how do you reconcile using long distance cannon on ranked troops? Not very sporting, eh?
Warfare in the past was a jumble of tactics, and the colonists were illegal rebels, not illegal combatants. Rangers used ambush tactics, not against marching ranks of thousands of frontline troops but against smaller bodies of troops, except for sniper duty. The Colonial fighters had an army that lined up and exchanged fire toe to toe with the British troops.
Terrorists, if you need equivalence, were the Huron and Iroquois (among others) raiding parties the English and French each sent to tear up the other's colonial settlements.

Pretty impressive Philbert you're familiar with Wyandots and Iroquois. Good post.

No the Founding Fathers would not be considered terrorists today because they were a bunch of wealthy aristocrats that owned property and business in both America and in England and most of them were granted English political positions prior to the Revolution. In other words they didn't do anything to actually fight against the British. Only George Washington was a solider.

As for the Revolutionary fighters, they would be. 2nd president John Adams said it best, "Anyone who rebels against a Republic, unlike a Monarchy, should be executed." And they did and they were. All such talk about rebellion in the constitution was aimed at inciting people against the British and the founders never intended to endorse or allow people to rebel against them.

i'm not saying he's a good fellow. setting off a bomb is indeed an dangerous act but the fact is he's hurt no one and has only done minimal property damage. i knew kids in high school who did worse than he did. it seems like his inclusion on the list is a bit out of place. it's almost like he got put on the list for his potential rather than his actions.
