‘Band of Brothers’ veteran Buck Compton dead at 90

who???

Got two nipples for a dime?
Too true Johnny. He sounds like a really big man from behind his computer.

Don't worry Adam, I'm sure you'll find some more just like him. :)

^^ This man battled the Nazis. It is because of this man and his colleagues that you are free to sit in front of your second hand pc with your pants around your ankles in your modular home and type out your angry, silly, deluded, fuckhead bullshit. Night after night.

That's all you're good for.

These men, these heroes you insult, most of whom have passed, if they could, they would, still, to this very day - fight to defend your stupid, lowball, angry, misguided, lowlife, disrespectful ass.

Fuck you.

This! :goodpost: :goodpost: :goodpost:

Jenkum is a :troll2: and a :dickhead: and a :douchebag:

By contrast, we have Buck Compton. A true hero among a company of heroes. Not just Easy Company, but all of the brave men who shipped out overseas to fight facism in Europe and Asia. They are indeed the GREATEST American generation -- and, sadly, they are quickly fading into history right before our eyes. The relative few WWII veterans who are left should be cherished and honored for as long as we have them with us. Everything we have now, EVERYTHING, we owe to them. Their bravery and sacrifice should serve as an example to us all. They paid the price to save the very freedoms that the Jew-hating Jenkum abuses every single fucking day. While his words make me SICK, I always remind myself that hundreds of thousands of young American men died to preserve his right to spew his bullshit. I think that Jenkum, deep down, knows he's not worthy to even occupy the same room as one of our WWII veterans, much less have the guts to look them in the eye.

I think it's time to return to the subject at hand. The death of a great man. Everything else is just a sideshow.

It's always astonishing to read what some people have to spew out on men who put their life and safety on the line to make the world a better and safer place.

Back on topic:

I feel terribly sorry about the loss of a man like Buck Compton. He helped stop people like my two grandfathers, who both wore the Uniforms of fascist Germany. One as an officer in the army, the other a school teacher who was more the classic opportunist, not being in the 'Team Nazi' would have harmed his career.

Compton didn't hold back and did what hat to be done. I thank him, I would not want to live in a country with a fascist government like Hitler had planned. Probably I would have been terminated, too, as an Epileptic.

Again, a great man gone

Fuck, are there any left?? Dick Winters just passed recently.

Men like this are a VERY hard breed to come by.

I hope he's with his brothers in his final rest.

God Bless, and thank you for your service to this country, and the freedoms, and people you fought for.

When Dick Winters died, I actually got teary-eyed. Truly. I would've LOVED to have met him and listen to him, in person, talk about the brilliant assault on Brécourt Manor on D-Day.

Thank God we still have some of the Easy men with us. I found this list (yea, it's Wikipedia, so take it w/ a grain of salt) and was surprised by how many are still alive -- there's even a few of the original Toccoa men still with us.

If anyone's interested in Easy Company and/or saw "Band of Brothers," read Stephen Ambrose's book on which the miniseries was based. Great, great stuff: "Band of Brothers, E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne: From Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest"

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Much respect for this man. We owe so much to those who came before us. He wasn't just a veteran but also a successful prosecutor. He will certainly be missed.

Side note: Band of Brothers is an unbelievably good series. I bought the box set for my father, and it's one of the few television series that we both really enjoy.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.

I have the box set as well. It's awesome. I pull it out every once in awhile and watch the entire series from start to finish! I've also read Band of Brothers, E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne: From Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest.

Rey C.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
In the interviews presented after Band of Brothers, what really impressed me about these men was how incredibly humble they all were. Especially in this age of narcissism and blowhards, that was refreshing.

May he rest in peace. :hatsoff:

Not to derail the topic again, but was that some Han Solo shit you laid down?

A true salute to Buck Compton and all the men who defended our freedom.

Has anyone ever visited Normany, France, to see the locations and battlefields? It's sooooo on my bucket list. Just to fly over there, get a bicycle and ride through the countryside to retrace the steps of Easy Company and the 101st Airborne from their drop zones to the Battle of Carentan. I also would like to take a car ride to Eindhoven in the Netherlands (along "Hell's Highway") where Easy took part in Operation Market Garden, then to Easy's positions outside Bastogne and the town of Foy during the Battle of the Bulge, and then finally to Berchtesgaden in Germany. I think visiting these places and planting a small American flag and wreath would be my own humble way of paying tribute to what these brave men did.
