This a reminder to all of you. Band Of Brothers is on the History Channel tonight starting at 9pm eastern. If you have never seen this mini-series, you haven't experienced the greatness of both tv and films. It is unparalleled in its excellence and quality. I know I am gushing but it is such a phenomenal piece of film-making that you really need to see it if you haven't.

It's the movie itself.... I am watching it right now. Cool smack. The only bad thing is that the History Channel has their stupid "H" in the fucking corner of the screen the entire time...lmao

I've only watched small pieces of that series unfortunaley, but I intend to get the DVD's.

Also....has anyone of you seen the movie: "Saving Private Ryan"?.....if not....I recommend it. It's a great realistic film, truly a masterpiece.

Unfortunately, I would have to disagree with my esteemed colleague Krypto. I hated Saving Private Ryan well......let me amend that I hated the second half of the movie. The first half of the movie was genius. Even thinking about that old man walking amongst the grave stones brings tears to my eyes (hell I even bought Ted Danson as a military officer.) The film went to shit when Matt Damon appeared. First his acting was sub-par and all of the sudden the movie turned into WWII slash A-Team episode. IMHO, Band of Brothers is far and away the greater cinematic effort and achievement. My 2 cents.

BoB is very good indeed but the book sucks like hell, MOH-spearhead is based on BoB just like MOHAA is based on Saving private ryan. So if you played spearhead you will find the that the storyline is a bit the same

yep, I saw this TV serie in France in July 2004. Is it a TV serie ordered by the BBC, no? and the serie has been diffused in the same time in several EU countries, I believe.
Yes it is great but sometimes the scenery is too artificial and you feel the movie of studio (I tell you, Normandy's landscape is not always like that...). To be showed.

Note : on the little poll they put on there for favorite war movie I picked my favorite THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI and it only 6 % of the vote Oh well , its still my favorite .

Jackson, i recommend you NOT to watch 'em on TV. i'm sure that many battle sequences will be edited, because they're pretty intense. they did the same with "Saving Private Ryan", remember ?!
plus the German sync is rather mediocre. i can only advise you to pay your local video store a visit and spare yourself the commercial flood on TV.

Thanks for the tip! I remember when they first showed "Saving Private Ryan" on German tv. Half of the movie was missing... But surprisingly they showed a nearly uncut version last year.

I had to tape it when it first came out in HBO because of work I couldn't watch it when they showed it. I think that was a good thing for me 'cause I still have most of the episodes on tape, except for one I missed taping. I'd still buy the DVD's if I find a good deal on them.
