Whether someone turned you on to them or they just grew on you!
A younger chick (by 15 yrs) that I know turned me on to Depeche Mode who I thought always sucked and their fans where Homosexual!

I don't know they ever sucked? If you were into hair bands, heavy metal, mainstream pop or classic rock, i understand. The have some solid albums like Black Celebration and Music for the Masses.

Took a while...

Again The Smiths? Really a iconic band in my book and many others, but i did'nt watch much MTV except 120 Minutes or listen to mainstream radio. If you picked a band like Spandu Ballet or Human League, i understand. Both were very innovative back in the early days though.

Thompson Twins stunk, but i like them now for nostalgia.

The key word in the title of this thread is: thought.

It's all subjective, no one is making sweeping faux objective statements about the nature of music or the definitions of good or bad, they're sharing an opinion, nothing more. At one point in time I couldn't stand anything The Smiths had ever recorded. Now, my opinion has changed. Same goes for Radiohead, I absolutely hated them at one point, now I don't. There's really little need to question it in this way, people have preferences those preferences more than likely change over time which in turn can lead you to reconsider certain assumptions you had made about a particular media figure(s) for better or worse.

Understood! I just think bad music sticks out. I am not a heavy metal fan, but I respect some of genre as well as hip-hop.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
For some reason, as a kid, I didn't like AC/DC now I'm fine with them, same with Ozzy, I guess I didn't like their voices back then
