So who here watched the finale and what did you think of it?

I thought it was going good until they started to explain everything. It was just fucking weak for a show that's been so good for so long.I really didn't like the way they went out.

!!!!!SPOILERS ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN THE SERIES FINALE!!!

What, specifically, did you not like? I'm satisfied with what happened when they landed on "New Earth." Roslin died after having "led" humanity to the new world--sort of resetting the Caprican mythology. I was a bit puzzled that everyone basically wanted to find different parts of the planet and live out their lives alone....After having spent years fighting and clawing for life with people--I would be happy to spend the rest of my life with the same people I fought with. I would want maybe 6 months to rest/relax/detox but ultimately...I'd want a nice house on main street of "New Earth."

I'm less certain about the use of "Angels"...Starbuck, Balter, Caprica6...that seemed *convenient* to me...

I'm less certain about what happened aboard Galactica with Cavil and the AHole cylons. They didn't seem to put up much of a defense with Hera. That seemed a bit weak.

I wondered if they were going to kill off Helo and have Sharon and THe Chief raise Hera together on New Earth. I thought that was where it was going at one point...

I think it was basically a great Series Finale. The 150,000 years later seemed to reinforce the "All this has happened before; all will happen again" theme...

I don't get how you think it could be a great finale when you pointed out some major plot flaws,at least in my opinion.

It just seemed like the writers couldn't come up with anything more clever than "it's god's plan".Now I know that the show had some deep religious undertones(and overtones as well),but they pulled a matrix in a way by trying to incorporate multiple religious ideologies into the show, and it just bubbled over into a highly convoluted mess in the end.

I loved the show since the beginning, but this finale was an epic FAIL,imo.

Would you hit it?
I had generally positive feelings about the religious aspects of the finale. I liked the overall concept of not trying to explain away everything rationally or scientifically. I think what the writers/producers were getting at (and this is including info from interviews with them as well) is that virtually every culture on the planet has moments recorded in their history when unexplainable, miraculous events occur that completely reshape that culture and the world around them. We can either reject those moments as nothing more than mythology, or take them as a whole and simply accept the evidence that maybe there are forces at work that we can't explain.

On the other hand, I could have done without the commentary by the Baltar and Six "angels" at the very end. You've made your point. We understand the implications. There's no need to bludgeon us with philosophical questions that we're already well aware of.

Is Humanity always destined to build large cities and overwhelm planets? It seemed like Lee and the Lawyer were thinking about trying to break that cycle. Then again, Lee seemed to want to spend his time wandering around the new planet.

I'm also not satisfied that Roslin was allowed to go off on her own with Adama and die. I think everyone on that planet would want a public opportunity to pay respects to her. It was her leadership that basically saved their asses all these years.

I never liked Apollo and Starbuck as a couple. She never seemed all that much into him. He was definitely more into her.

It was a ballsy decision to send all the ships into the heart of the sun. I guess nobody's leaving this planet...until steel and rocket fuel are re-invented again, eh?
