Best Buy HDTV $9.99 ????

bigmac

All my pics come from FreeOnes.
I heard on my local radio show that Best Buy had some HDTV's on their website for $9.99 because they put the decimal in the wrong place. I guess a lot of people ordered the TV, and the station said something about how Best Buy wasn't going to honor that price. Couldn't you get them for "False Advertising"?
I would imagine mistake or not, they would have to eat their losses. Has anybody else heard anything about this or had a similar experience?

FreeOnes turned me straight!
Heard about this story last night. I would think no court would bother hearing such a case though Americans seem dumb enough to contest an obvious misprint.

If they have a disclaimer in the fine print saying they are not responsible for mis-prints they can refuse the orders. If they don't they are on the hook I think.

I need to clean my screen!
They've already said they won't honor the orders. Nor should they have to.

Anyone who ordered it did so only because they knew it was a misprint.

Something like that happened to me when I was younger. I was at a baseball card store and they were selling a box of Fleer Ultra for $3.99 - at least that's what the sticker said. My mom took me to the register so I could buy it (because they were usually like $60 at the time) and it rang up as $59.99. My mom argued with the guy who owned the store and even showed him the sticker, but he refused to sell it to us for that price. So, I think she bought me ice cream instead.

was the ice cream good .

it is the stores fault for the misprint not the buyers if they ordered a 9.99 tv and it said 9.99 then thats all they should have to pay

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
They said it was a fuck up and that they wouldn't honor sales made at that price. They'll issue refunds, and people are welcome to purchase the tv's at the correct price of $1,799.99 if they want.

Well, no, people don't want to buy a tv for $1,799.99! That's why they bought it when you had it advertised for $9.99. Idiots.

They have a disclaimer at their web site. They are in the clear ,too bad I wish I had heard about it and they had to honor it lol.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
Printing mistake and Best Buy scrambled to let the media know it was a printing mistake. I bet it was a disgruntled employee.

Either that, or some asshole who likes to see chaos and mass pandemonium break out in electronics stores.

BlueBalls, do you work at Best Buy, by any Chance?

Regardless, I'm sure there will be those who will bear a grudge against Best Buy for some self-perceived greivance because this incorrect sales price won't be/wasn't honored.
That's just how some people are in today's society. - lol

I've already filed a grievance against them.

If you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings including this one.
I think claiming that this was "just missing a decimal point" is reason enough for them to honor their mistake. I'm intimately familiar with the method Best Buy uses to put prices on their website, and it takes a lot to be this stupid.

I have to admit,I agree with both of these points.

I will say,it would've been a ballsy and very good move for Best Buy to find a way to honor it in some fashion.I don't think that anyone would complain if they got a free $20-$25 gift card instead,as a gesture of generating some good will.

I fucking loath Best Buy,but I would've had a whole new found respect for them, and I think that there are others that feel the same way. This could have had somewhat favorable long term benefits, imo.
