Definitely Hans Zimmer. Gladiator was great (and then Klaus Bedelt showed it could work with pirates when he basically reused it for Pirates of the Caribbean). The last two Pirates movies were fantastic as well.

Honestly, Zimmer & Elfman just regurgitate predictable themes for all the movies they work on. Its all very well a composer having a distinct & recognisable identity but they are very lazy.

My new favorite is Jonny Greenwood who scored the soundtrack of "There Will Be Blood "

Out of that list, I gotta hand it to John Williams. The dude has scored just about every single one of my favorite movies. Whenever I use to walk into work, I would always want the store to stop playing it's muzak and start playing the Imperial March from "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back."

I've always wanted to be an archaeologist and every time I study something, I always want The Raiders March playing in the background from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark."
