I'd have to give it to the Royal Naval Commandos followed by the Green Berets. The Navy Seals are a damn fine unit as well.

I would also put Israeli Shayetet 13 as one of the fine units on the planet - they've dealt with so much since '48 with all the hostility in Israel.

Anyone here study this? Military folks of the board?

Just because it has special in it doesn't mean it is. We all don't look at the Special Olympics as being elite sportsmen, do we?

Stick with the best: SEALs, USMC Recon, SAS, Israel, GSG-9, and Spetsnaz. Along with a couple others.

US Navy SEALS (but I'm biased) DEVGRU. "Special Forces" is actually the formal for US Army "Green Berets"....the collective of special warfare operators are generally referred to as SO.

Yep. And apparently they are the best unit in the world, so I hear.

I know the queen actually did some stuff with the unit in full out ops; I thought that was funny.

I think they are the originators (correct me if I'm wrong).

SAS, easily. tried, tested and proven. and about 75% Scottish (or something like that, can't remember the exact figure) which is always going to help.the fact that you need to have served x number of years in RM Commando or whatever before you're even considered says a lot too.

There's been some good documentaries on the History and Military Channel over the last year. I always wanted to be a Green Beret ever since Rambo, back when I was a young'n. Rambo was the baddest. :hatsoff: I can't tell you how many times I watched Rambo III.

I believe the extreme level of dedication, precision and support technology of our US special forces has been nullified by the current political administration.

I'm ex-Air Force and this is how I feel...Merry Christmas to all those who are working to protect my country and can't be home with their families for the holidays...thank you :bowdown:
