As I read the comments and all that, I realize that I have no qualms about Oprah or anyone else wanting to give things away to their audience or people. If I had the gratuitous amount of money Oprah has or at her disposal, I would certainly love to give money and things that can help people away. However on any talk show I might catch where the host gives something away and what I despise is when the people are unable to conduct themselves in a manner that shows they have some kind of sense and self control.
I have seen the crowds go wild as if they just watched someone get devoured by a lion in the coliseum. I have watched Ellen where she has the camera in some city giving someone a brand new car and $10,000 cash, they can't stop screaming and jumping around long enough to say a simple fucking thank you and show some damn graciousness and civility.
I realize receiving something of that nature is exciting, but in the end it should not erase any form of civilized behavior they have. If they have any at all. And if it is staged and they are told to act like wild animals, that is a damn shame.
If I was in the crowd I would certainly be excited, especially after seeing what Ellen had given away this past year in her 12 days of Christmas. I've never seen it before but what she was giving away this year was some pretty nice stuff. As for the things I would not want I would give to someone else as a gift or someone I know would appreciate it.
There is nothing wrong at all in giving away something. It all comes down to the person giving it away and where their heart is and how the person who receives it accepts it.
I just wish society didn't make everything so damn hyped up where people lose all control and look like they are having a seizure or just watched a loved one die before their eyes.
