BOSTON -- A Boston police officer was placed on administrative leave after he allegedly used a racial slur when referring to Henry Louis Gates Jr.

In a mass e-mail, Officer Justin Barrett, 36, called Gates a "jungle monkey," according to a law enforcement source.

Barrett, who is a captain in the Massachusetts National Guard, was also suspended and condemned by the Guard for what it called a "racially insensitive e-mail."

Gates, a black Harvard scholar, was arrested at his home earlier this month on a disorderly conduct charge after he tried to budge open the door of his Cambridge home.

Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis found out about the e-mail on Tuesday and immediately stripped Barrett of his gun and badge, officials said. The e-mail was first sent to the Boston Globe and then to local members of the National Guard.

He hung out with a racist preacher for 20 years every Sunday. Why would anyone do this unless you thought the same as the guy you went to listen to preach for 2o years.

He sided with Professor Gates and called the police stupid when he had none of the facts of the case when in fact it was Prof. Gates that was the racist.

He also said in his own book that his Grandmother is a "normal white person" WTF is a normal white person. I would get all kinds of shit if I said normal black person.

He is an obvious racist that has preconceived notions about white people. He thinks white people owe black people a debt of some kind.

There are too many to list. I am going to go cling to my guns and religion.

EDIT: He also picked a racist for SCOTUS in Sotomayor. The wise latina comment shows she is racist towards whites yet he stands behind her 100%.

MLK was a conservative republican. He WAS a great man.

MLK was a republican but a progressive in philosophy. Most southern blacks were republicans because of what Abraham Lincoln did and correspondingly so, most southern conservative mostly racist were democrat, (aka Boll Weevils or Dixiecrats) because of Abe Lincoln, they hated the republican party and the "Carpetbaggers" sent to the south during reconstruction.

MLK's political leanings were consistent with his contemporaries; Jessie Jackson, Andrew Young, Julian Bond, etc. Those guys are not conservative nor was MLK.

MLK believed in equal rights for all. This is conservative trait not liberals. Liberals want to punish the successful and give to the poor. Liberals believe the govt knows whats best for you. Conservatives want the Govt to leave them the fuck alone.

But I feel as if people have become WAAAAAY more sensative to race now that Obama is POTUS. You would think if a black man can become President that a black man can do anything.
