I'd take Roy. I remember him playing and always getting the better of the Penguins and I always liked him when he was in Colorado, plus the guy didn't take any shit either. He loved to fight the other goalies and never backed down.


However, if I could choose anyone, I'd pick Vladislav Tretiak.

Brodeur is amazing. He's like Roy without the princess attitude (or the distracting head jerks).

Knowing all that, it's still a hard choice. I think, overall, I'd pick Brodeur during his peak (which is long past, he needs to retire).

Brodeur has better stats in certain categories because he has played his whole career on Jersey, a team that revolves entirely around defensive play, their whole game plan for years has been to get ahead then play as obnoxiously defensively as possible. Brodeur is very good but playing for Jersey has definitely inflated his stats.

Patrick Roy is retired, Martin Brodeur is in the twilight of his career.

In their prime i would take Brodeur. Better big game goalie, more decorated and a better liked teamate overall.

i think alot of Patrick Roy's achievements after he went to Colorado were a result of longevity more than it was consistency. Marty Brodeur was always a very consistent player in his prime
