Burn Your Obamacare Cards

FreedomWorks launched a campaign Thursday to rebrand the health care law — and the requirement that most Americans obtain insurance or face a penalty — as a military-style draft. And it’s asking resisters to burn their “Obamacare draft cards.”

Never mind the fact that there are no such thing as Obamacare cards.

“It’s not against the law to ignore the mandate or to buy coverage that doesn’t fully conform to the law’s complicated and intrusive rules,” said FreedomWorks’ vice president of public policy, Dean Clancy. “The FreedomWorks ‘Burn Your Obamacare Card’ campaign aims to resist the draft in good conscience, without risking jail time or significant fines.”
The conservative group plans to train people to “beat the mandate” and resist the health law’s requirements.

While these talking chimps have been obsessed with "Obamacare", they could have been working on a jobs bill and some targeted tax cuts for American business.

I dislike the Democrat party, but I dislike the Republican party more.

Man after my own heart. :) (I don't rank them, but feel free to dislike them how you will!)

Cracks me up - the comment in the article about Congress worrying about "Brain Drain". Really? I'm not concerned about any elected official in the Federal Government exiting office. Not at all. They can all go and I don't think the country would suffer brain drain.

This is a little off topic but I think it's time to end employer based health insurance, it's a terrible idea to tie your health insurance to where you're employed. Just throwing that out there

I'm not against what you're saying. The Affordable Health Care Act is a bandaid to a bandaid. Medicare patched the system, now this is looking to fill another gap. I think the goal is noble, but it will be problematic.

I've had conversations where my buddy used Denmark as a comparison. They are ranked among the happiest people on earth and they have universal healthcare. That may be the case, but they are a fraction of the size of the US and they also have a different cultural. I suspect it is the culture of having more multiple families lives together (not in the same building, but together) that leads to the happiness. I've never been there, so what do I know, but my point is the comparison is apples and oranges and their solution doesn't work for the U.S.

Perhaps health care should be nationalized. Not sure if that will lead to the best health care, but it would leave to average coverage. I don't think there is a fair solution. It is a noble goal and I don't knock people for trying. I don't have a silver bullet.

I keep thinking if you're going to nationalize something, nationalize energy.

I'll burn my Obamacare card. But what if I get seriously burned while doing so, will FreedomWorks pay for my healthcare?

If Obama Care is so great, why did those in congress opt out of it?

Uh, maybe for the same reason that they also exclude themselves from insider trading and a good many other laws that the rest of us have to follow? :dunno: Members of Congress tend to make special deals for themselves. And the last time I looked, the health care available to members of Congress is a hell of a lot better than anything the average American will ever get, with or without Obamacare. Tell ya what, give us the deal that they have and we won't complain anymore. Deal?

P.S. I realize that you can't answer (any longer = :)). But maybe one of your surrogates will step in on your behalf.

Harry Reid: Obamacare 'Costs Me About $4,500 More'
GetFile.aspx

By Sandy Fitzgerald
President Barack Obama may have famously promised his signature healthcare plan would cost consumers less money — but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is proof that it's often not true.

"Under Obamacare, my insurance costs me about $4,500 more than it did before," Reid told the Reno Gazette Journal. "Yes, because it is age-related and it wasn't like that before."

Reid, while noting that 150 million families get insurance through their employers, "so should all federal employees."

Reid's comments came while he denied a CNN story claiming he is the only top congressional leader to exempt some of his staff from having to buy coverage through the Obamacare exchanges.

"I followed the Affordable Care Act,” Reid said. “It is the law. The law says that if you have committee staff, leadership staff, they stay where they are. If you have other staff, which is most everyone, they go to the exchanges."

Reid is worth $2.8 to $6.2 million, according to an OpenSecrets.org report, so he would not qualify for subsidies that would lower his Obamacare insurance costs.

But his rate hike is an eye-opener after promises made by people like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who told Meet the Press last year that "everybody would have lower rates" under Obamacare.

She denied to The Weekly Standard in a later report that she'd made the statement, saying she doesn't "remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium."

But a study earlier this year by two members of the American Academy of Actuaries found that tens of millions will see higher insurance costs, reports Forbes, with or without the subsidies — and just like Harry Reid.

if that shill Harry Reid was so concerned about money he would not have voted down a full audit of the private federal reserve SMH
