The only thing that will matter to the voters on the first Tues. of the eleventh month of the twelfth year of the twenty first century is . . . are they better off (on this upcoming election day) than they were in late '08.

I suppose that if you're a pro subsidy - marginal rate tax bracket paying kinda person who needs government assistance at every step, the answer will be a resounding YES!

Searches for the sense in this post and I believe it stopped after, 'The only thing that will matter' part.

But I suppose for a simplistic, quarter dimensional thinker the circumstance would be viewed simply as whether you are better off or not. There are people who in fact will be better off (Trump) who wouldn't vote for Obama in any event. So that silly narrative has long since run it's course and has been waiting for awhile now for some of you to catch up.

People (the country sans those who are against Obama in any event) will analyze one thing, is the country moving in the right direction on the issues they think are important.

If they are doing better than they were or at least not worse....and think the country is going in the right direction...guess what? Obama will be re-elected. A person could even be in a worse circumstance but be in a position to realize some prospects and not want a change.

If there is a steady drumbeat of circumstances that suggest the country isn't moving in the right direction AND there is a viable contender...Obama will be in for a fight.

Barring that...you'd better get some sleep. Because if things go like they're shaping up, your types won't be getting any sleep until at least '16.:2 cents:

Blow dat shit off! Why work for some foreign grocery store in America when there's Fed assistance to be had for nothing! Yep! I can sling dope outta my side window, burn incense, take bong hits, paint some canvas, buy groceries for my friends with my food stamps in exchange for 3/4 the face value in cash . . . wait for the postman to deliver me more ''free money'' etc. etc. . . . you can have that work shit!

Manager Trainee / Assistant Store Manager $20.50 an hour.

It could be argued that it has been so miserable lately that that isn't saying much. It doesn't take too much to beat what we have been through.

Plus, going forward the types of jobs people will be getting won't be anything to write home about. It's not just about employment, but quality of life and the kinds of employment people have.

when we have unemployment figures, real income, buying power, health insurance, pensions, the fairer spread of wealth, and other things approaching what we had in the 60s then maybe we can start being a little confident again.

General Motors to announce $2 billion investment in 8 states, including Michigan

Today in Toledo, General Motors executives will announce plans to invest $2 billion this year at 17 of its plants in eight states, including Michigan, the Detroit News is reporting.

The investment will create or retain up to 4,200 jobs at GM over the next two years, including hundreds of new jobs at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which builds the Chevrolet Volt.

GM will also hire up to 400 new workers to build a new 8-speed transmission at its Toledo Transmission Plant.

GM has said that it expects all current workers on layoff to be back on the job by fall, so today's announcement signals new hiring ahead for the company.

Fast trains and new jobs: 10 reactions to the Detroit-to-Chicago high-speed rail announcement

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was in Detroit yesterday to announce a nearly $200 million grant to create high-speed passenger rail service between Detroit and Chicago. Here are some reactions to the announcement.

"One of the other things Secretary LaHood announced was that Michigan, in addition to that $200 million, is part of another grant with several other states, and with those dollars Amtrak is going to be buying and building in America, brand new locomotives. And wouldn't it be nice if we could entice them to build them here? Take a plant that isn't working right now and put people to work and build all that stuff right here in Michigan. In Detroit." – SEMCOG’s Carmine Palombo, talking to WJR’s Paul W. Smith.

You can't know how hard I've been laughing to myself watching GOPer after GOPer line up to sign last rites on the Obama administration before even his 2 year mark based on unemployment.:1orglaugh:facepalm:

I kept trying to warn them that Obama is ahead of where Reagan was at similar points in their terms on unemployment.

Just wait 'til after it turns around. It will be the Clinton era excuse, "Presidents don't have any affect on the economy.":1orglaugh:1orglaugh (After, all the bashing him on the economy of course.)
:yesyes::1orglaugh

I suppose GOPers will pitch in in bringing the economy back as they stock up on sleep aids and meds...:dunno:
