Calling Chi-Town Folks For Help!

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
A buddy of mine and I are making a pilgrimage to Wrigley at the end of August to see the Cubs/Mets game. After the game, we're splitting town for St. Louis to catch the Cardinals/Brewers game 2 days later. We don't want to fuck with renting a car or taking a cab. Can we take the CTA directly from O'Hare to Wrigley? I looked on Google maps and it shows us taking the blue line to the Addison St. station but then it says we have to take a fucking bus to the ballpark. Sounds like a hassle. Is there a way we can take the CTA straight into Wrigley without having to catch a bus? Can we take the EL instead of the subway?

Fucking confusing for this dumb Texan....we ain't got no public transportation here in Houston!

Any advice appreciated!

If you were going to an A's game or a Giants game I'd be able to help you, but I'm afraid I'd be of no help to you here. :hatsoff:

You need to take the Blue line to the red line then back north, which has a stop right near wrigley. I would just get off at Addison off the Blue and take a $10-$15 cab ride to Wrigley. It would be a far walk otherwise and the bus is an option, but a pain I agree.

Thanks EAH....if we take the blue line to hook up with the red the map shows we have to go all the way inside the loop. Monroe St. station transfer? Then back out on the red line to Addison St. (Wrigleyville)?? That sounds like going way out of the way.

Maybe we'll take your advice and hook a cab off the blue line station at Addision. I don't know....maybe we should just watch the game on TV? :1orglaugh

It is out of the way since everything runs into the loop downtown. The cab or bus are your options. Yes, it is called Wrigleyville, cool old style neighborhood. It should not be a long cab ride. I am not a native, but have been there quite often.

If you have not been to Wrigley, it is a blast! I have been a couple times.

Grab a Old Style beer, Chicago Hot Dog and enjoy the game!

Are you and your buddy going to go to one of Chicago's famous steak/chop houses?

Thanks, t-rock.

Yeah I'm sure we'll find someplace to eat downtown after the game (if he still has his head on....he's a Mets fan :1orglaugh). There used to be a place on Ontario St. called "Bistro 110" (or some similar 3-digit number) that I remember was awesome. Anyone know if it's still there? Otherwise, we'll probably go to The Chicago Chophouse since it's right up the street. Someone also mentioned David Burke's. Any other recommendations? I don't want to go to Morton's or Ruth's Chris or some such place that I can also go to in Houston.

I was at Wrigley only once back in '94 the night before the players went on strike (that SUCKED!). And you're right, it was awesome! You're in this typical midwestern residential neighborhood and....voila!....all of a sudden there's a major-league baseball stadium right in front of you!

I'll definitely grab an Old Style or two and a Chicago dog. We'll probably stop in one of the bars around there as well (a place called "The Dugout" rings a bell).

Like they say....."There's no place like Wrigley Field".

Thanks again! :glugglug:
