Can you Get Fired

if your on a video, doing porn? girl or guy (like Naughty Allie)- thought she said she had a job

I think a lot depends on which state you're in. I've mostly lived in "hire/fire at will" states, so it's all I know.

Yes. There have been women who have been fired for even posing in Playboy, which is G-rated compared to actual porn.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far
Probably, even though that shit aint none of their business.

:dito:

That's bullshit. What you do outside of work is your own business (so long as it doesn't affect your ability to work/the image of the company you work for). :2 cents:

That's where the slippery slope comes in. Who is to decide what affects the good/bad image of a company?

You're right. When it reaches that point it becomes more case by case, then general ruling. :glugglug:

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Most school boards have an "appropriate behaviour" clause, and playing a part in any porn would get you fired. Same is true of most Universities, Law Firms, and most major companies. If you work for some mom and pop business, you'd likely be fine. Work for any professional outfit, they've probably got a clause somewhere that prevents their employees from doing that.

But go ahead, find out and report back for us. :)

In the US other than working under some form of contract you can pretty much get fired by a business for almost any reason with only a few exceptions. Technically, most of the time they don't even need a reason other than they just feel like it.

I'm watching some specialist videos
In the UK, if someone has worked for a company for more than 6 months, it takes quite an effort to sack someone. Verbal and written warnings first, unless it is for gross misconduct (turning up drunk or high, or hitting your boss for example).

I can speak from the german perspective. Labour Law is absolutely clear here:

If you are just doing a cheesy amost-nude photoshoot, you can be sure, say 99%, you're fired. The 1% makes up for either jobs in the total country side, like, on a farm, where most of the people do not have actual what we call internet, or the boss is a freak ^^

I can understand employers not wanting to employ porn stars if they are afraid of the potential sexual harassment that might arise once coworkers get wind of it (kinda). But something's wrong here if former porn stars are treated like ex-cons and can't pursue careers in teaching, law enforcement, or any other government/corporate profession without being scrutinized and judged. Never mind if they're qualified and hard-working or not...

Just another example of the hypocrisy of society. I feel bad for that teacher who was fired, because I'm sure that the school was fine with her before they found out about her porn career. Yes, I can see the students being distracted by that fact but it wouldn't be as big a deal if people weren't so skewed on the concept of 'morality' and continue to regard sexual acts as taboo and sacrilege.

I fully agree with you.

Especially in "right to work" states, no reason has to be given when dismissing an employee. And if you have something in your past (not just porn) which the company might find embarrassing or problematic, then there's a good chance you might be let go.

But you know what's odd (and disturbing) to me? At a company I worked for several years ago, a Vice President made a series of strategic blunders that cost the company around $110 million over the course of 14 months (the President was a Goober and went along with him). Finally, the Chairman and CEO stepped in and fired him (excuse me, he "resigned to pursue other opportunities, effective immediately"). Yet this egotistical sack of crap found another job within two months. On another board where I sometimes post, there are a lot of amateur girls. And it's been very common over the years for them to describe how they've lost jobs and friends when word gets out that they've posed nude on the net. One had her ex-husband swoop in, take her to court and try to take her kids. A lot of them don't even have sex on their sites, other than with their husbands or boyfriends. But just like with the teachers you read about, as soon as people find out that they've ever done anything in the adult industry, they're blacklisted in education, law enforcement and a lot of other fields.

A girl that posts here says that she wants to go into federal law enforcement once her time on the net is up. Before he retired, my uncle did background checks on fed law enforcement applicants. A background in "pornography" was an automatic red flag. At one time I had a very (very) small interest in a strip club. He said even that would have disqualified me if I'd wanted to get into the FBI or whatever - not that I wanted to. So she might as well give up on that fantasy right now.

But no, I don't think it's right how people in the adult industry are looked at, especially years after their adult career is done.

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
I was fired from Pirates 2 for actually thinking I was a pirate and tried to decapitate Evan Stone with a cutlass....but I am the type of actor that really gets into my work.
