The fact is, those LEADERS of the Hispanic community have used some of the most hate-filled, spiteful, retributive - almost holocaust-like - language you will ever hear and they still have their tenure and reputation. Fuck that. I don't respect Jose Anguel Guetierez for one second and I never will and he can just go to hell along with George Lopez and LaRaza.

It's not the fact that the US won't be "white" that concerns me... it's the impression that most of the latest wave of immigrants are not integrating and "getting with the program" for lack of a better phrase like previous waves did. It's about shared values (as much as I hate to use that played out word), you know, the things we all believed in that made America great. It just feels like we are losing that for many reasons these days. :dunno:

It sure as hell bothers me and I'm not afraid or ashamed to say it either. In my generation, we have to worry about not having Social Security in another 10-20 years. When I have kids, and they get to be my age or older, they'll have to worry about being the national minority and that has me scared to death.

You know I study America (literally, its my PhD area of study) and we never approach the social response to what is a 'browning' of America. Politically, people assume it will mean a refocus of policies and priorities towards Latin America.

That's because the majority of Americans are too afraid to really speak their mind on the subject, or are too fucking stupid to see what's really going on, plain and simple.

My dad's as old school as you get in many regards, so I got some of my um, views, from him. The rest of my views I got from not being a mindless robot and also from worshiping George Carlin. That being said, my family is as white as you get. There are no "non-whites" in my family. Whenever I have kids, if ANY of them bring home a "non-white" boyfriend or girlfriend, the only words I will ever say to them are: "You are dead to me."

Does that make me a racist? According to some yes, but I really don't care. It's not just racism, it's family pride and heritage.

What concerns me is people like that piece of shit George Lopez who say things like (and I'm paraphrasing) white people should get used to being the minority and like it and that when we are on the other side of rule that we should "please have our license and registration ready." You know, that sort of "get back at" attitude. That shit makes me fucking sick and quite frankly I'm glad Lopez (and the numerous other leaders I previously quoted have also expressed) are making their true feelings known. They don't want to get along with gringos as much as they want to see us suffer. And while I know not all Latinos are like (of course) it's alarming when people in power - who represent them in many, many ways - are saying these things.

Ethnic make ups of countries are everchanging, at one point Indians were the majority and were probably pissed as more and more Europeans arrived, South Africa and Zimbabwe were once totally black, the original Brits scattered to Wales and Ireland, Normans and Romans settled in their place and many many more examples. You just happen to be living through one right now.

I have no quam with anyone. I am not a US citizen although I am deeply familiar with that country. I am just an academic who focuses on such issues.
