Seems to me there are two distinct arguments developing in this thread:

1. Immigration
2. What is racism?

As usual, the lines have been blurred by the extreme passions these two subjects create, and - of course - the close interrelationship between the two subjects.

I'll leave immigration alone, but on the racism issue, there does seem to be a lot of confusion over what racism is: just because someone wants to live in a white society does not make them anymore racist than someone who wants to live in a Muslim or Spanish community.

The only time racism comes into that particular equation is when you get into motives. Not liking a particular ethnic group is not in an of itself racist (I, for instance, would not want to live in a Muslim community: not because I have any ill-feelign towards that community, it's just too different in structure and operation from the kind of community I am comfortable with.

In other word, it is the reasons for discrimination (again, discrimination in and of itself is not racism - it is just a form of choice) in which the racism lies.

I'm sorry Scott but your professed beliefs on the subject already place you in such a group whether you like it or not. Your statement about certain groups who desire to encourage a "perverse agenda" as you say is absolutely correct but there are also a small percentage of white Americans who spew the same kind of vitriolic garbage so I fail to see the difference. Answer this for me if you would....Does Louis Farrakhan speak for all African-Americans? Does Janet Marguia speak for all Hispanic Americans? Does David Duke or Paul DeCoste speak for all white Americans? Of course not. You can't denigrate an entire ethnic group just because certain fringe elements espouse extreme attitudes. Your paranoia about the level of organized activity that is taking place to reduce white Americans to second-class citizenry is insignificant from my perspective....and I live in one of the most culturally diverse places in the nation. In spite of our ethnic differences, we manage to find a way to make it work here in Texas. Things aren't always easy and there will always be issues but that is going to happen no matter what. It's just the way it is with the human condition.

I find the diversity of cultures that exist in America to be a delightful element of what makes our country so unique and great. People with similar attitudes that you possess apparently see it as an organized attack on the white establishment and a threat to their very existence when in fact, it is, for the most part, people simply being who they are. I'd urge you to lighten up and perhaps make the effort to get out of Minnesota once in a while so you could see that it is possible for the USA to survive, in fact prosper, as a multi-cultural nation. I see it every day right here in Texas.

My dad's as old school as you get in many regards, so I got some of my um, views, from him. The rest of my views I got from not being a mindless robot and also from worshiping George Carlin. That being said, my family is as white as you get. There are no "non-whites" in my family. Whenever I have kids, if ANY of them bring home a "non-white" boyfriend or girlfriend, the only words I will ever say to them are: "You are dead to me."

Does that make me a racist? According to some yes, but I really don't care. It's not just racism, it's family pride and heritage.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but are whites now the smallest ethnic group or are they only outnembered if you add up every single other ethnic group there is. So basically if you add up all the blacks (west indian/african etc), all the orientals (chinese, japanese etc), all the asians (indian, pakistani, bangladeshi etc) and all the hispanic whites (south america) they just about outnumber the whites? despite the fact they are all different colours, cultures and religions and are just as different to one another than they are to white people. So if you went up to a Nigerian Christian guy and a Hindu Indian guy you could point at them and say you people outnumber us? White is one ethnic group but non white isn't, you need to break this down further into hispanics, blacks and asians for a truer picture. My understanding is that non-hispanic whites are still by far the largest ethnic group in NYC, is that true or false :dunno:

There is no absolute majority in New York any more, but if you're looking for the closest to its still white people, or specifically non-hispanic whites. hmmm now in the context of that post asking "what are you afraid of" was in regards to white becoming a minority. So were these fears in response to white becoming a minority or just in general?
