the way i figure it the egg came first. at some point in time there must have been an animal that did not meet the criteria to be classed as a chicken. it finally became a chicken through evolution. this means that eventually a bird that was almost a chicken layed an egg which contained an embryo that hatched and grew up to be a proper chicken. just my opinion. so like i said, i think it was the egg that came first
