how would we ever make good on our debt? :shy:
In fairness to the SU35 a quick trawl of das interwebz shows that several are active and not just in Russia.Quick- name five innovative military creations from either China or the (former) Soviet Union...
(Cue sound of wind blowing).
This thing is likely to be as stealthy as Joan Rivers leading a parade. And frankly, taking a lesson from Russian planes of the last few decades- its a long way between flying a prototype and deploying combat-capable numbers of these things.
Su-35, Su-37, MiG 1-42, Yak-141, Su-47... fabulous, pretty, airshow prototypes. And that's all that exists. (Except for the Yak, which did exceptional in tests, until they lost one of the pair to a crash, then the Soviet Union collapsed and it was never continued).
Maybe we'll send Clint Eastwood in to steal this Chinese plane.![]()
I'd put money on it.we'll probably find out it was made with US technology aquired via Israel
which should NOT appear on a stealth plane 'cos they make RCS shoot right up.Doesn't matter tho - when was the last time their pilots flew in combat?Yeah Russia has built a bunch of 'one offs' but really they don't have the money to put any of them in production. China in the other hand have more than enough funds and with the top secret info they have from us they can skip the decades it took us to get 5th generation fighters up and flying and start getting them in the air. This isn't the China of 10 years ago, they are the new superpower and they will be making weapons to rival ours.
Note that in North Korea they flew Russian jets which you could pump full of .50 cal that the Sabres used and they wouldn't be affected. We had the same mind set in Korea and Vietnam, if push comes to shove they nhave the equipment and they have more than enough manpower to give us a run for the money! I feel a new Cold War is going to brew up in Asia!
So then, welcome china to the club of nations stupid enough to go stealth when you could just put a radar like Irbis E on the jet.
As for restarting F22 production, if you really MUST have a stealth/LO fighter, here's what could be done cheaper, resulting in a larger fleet with a higher readiness rate, greater pool of spares and lower maintenance costs:
