Chinese stealth fighter flies!

Ulysses31

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.

My wife doesn't know I'm a perv!
from the back, it looks like a mix between a MIG and the F-22

I can set my own custom title!
Quick- name five innovative military creations from either China or the (former) Soviet Union...

(Cue sound of wind blowing).

This thing is likely to be as stealthy as Joan Rivers leading a parade. And frankly, taking a lesson from Russian planes of the last few decades- its a long way between flying a prototype and deploying combat-capable numbers of these things.

Su-35, Su-37, MiG 1-42, Yak-141, Su-47... fabulous, pretty, airshow prototypes. And that's all that exists. (Except for the Yak, which did exceptional in tests, until they lost one of the pair to a crash, then the Soviet Union collapsed and it was never continued).

Maybe we'll send Clint Eastwood in to steal this Chinese plane. ;)

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
Sweet now it can drop lead contaminated toys and planks of dry wall with toxic chemicals on us.

Patton wanted to march East and MacArthur wanted to march West when Germany and Japan cried uncle. It's a shame Truman didn't listen.

In fairness to the SU35 a quick trawl of das interwebz shows that several are active and not just in Russia.
Anyhoo, would you like to place a bet on exactly when Russia will cancel Pak Fa?
we'll probably find out it was made with US technology aquired via Israel
I'd put money on it.

From what I've seen of this it's probably made with shitty tech given by the Russkis at an exorbitant price to a nation they don't trust. Also it has canards  which should NOT appear on a stealth plane 'cos they make RCS shoot right up.

So then, welcome china to the club of nations stupid enough to go stealth when you could just put a radar like Irbis E on the jet.
As for restarting F22 production, if you really MUST have a stealth/LO fighter, here's what could be done cheaper, resulting in a larger fleet with a higher readiness rate, greater pool of spares and lower maintenance costs:

Some details on Russia's LATEST stealth fighter project; Pak Fa:

And yes, you could recycle tech from the f22 (c)raptor program and put it in the F15SE.
A projected f22 replacement was the Lockheed Martin Switchblade, but I haven't been keeping track of the program 'cos it's swing wing and aint sure what's going on :dunno:
Anyone notice that if you type Lockheed Martin in google the company slogan is "We never forget who were working for?" I wonder what they got caught doing to inspire that... Lol.

FreeOnes is pumping through my veins!
Yeah Russia has built a bunch of 'one offs' but really they don't have the money to put any of them in production. China in the other hand have more than enough funds and with the top secret info they have from us they can skip the decades it took us to get 5th generation fighters up and flying and start getting them in the air. This isn't the China of 10 years ago, they are the new superpower and they will be making weapons to rival ours.

Doesn't matter tho - when was the last time their pilots flew in combat?
You can bet your left arsecheek that all their pilots are pilots only because their daddy knows someone in power.
They probably fly about once a year and never train or something stupid. No experience means they'll get pwnd.

We had the same mind set in Korea and Vietnam, if push comes to shove they nhave the equipment and they have more than enough manpower to give us a run for the money! I feel a new Cold War is going to brew up in Asia!

~~whimsy~~

I once made this paper airplane that last in the air for about ten seconds. I like to consider that the prototype to this jet.

Note that in North Korea they flew Russian jets which you could pump full of .50 cal that the Sabres used and they wouldn't be affected.
If the chinese fly stuff made in china, it's not gonna be that tough.
Note that in Vietnam the weight of the F4, combined with the fact that it hadn't been built to dogfight was a major problem.
Note that in the article it claims this jet is heavy and frankly I doubt it has the tech to move that weight about well enough at low speed; the chinese can't invent it and everyone else is reluctant to sell the best tech to them because they copy it without paying.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
It's cockpit displays are Ipads... It's not like it's really hard for any nation with a defense budget to come up with one. We've been gallivanting around with the Raptor for so long it's only logical. And it's not really hard technology to duplicate, or steal...

Yes. But remember that China is using this as a positioning tool. It's a political move all the way....yet in the background Chinese engineers are working to improve it. The Irbis-E is limited as it targets earlier generation aircraft. And this technology is always changing. This is what Russian engineers do not admit.
