When I came to faith about twenty years ago I began to study the Bible but I could not find the anwer to this question.

Can a true Christian eat the meat of animals?

I started to think about what kind of horrors food animals endure before they end up on a plate.

People do not like this answer but I say it anyway:

Yes, it is a sin if you eat the meat of animals because they have a heart, emotions, they will feel the pain and they can not defend themselves.


Does this mean that Christians need to eat colorless and tasteless food?

Hell no.

God created people to be simple so we need simple instructions.

The Ten Commandments are a good example.

Only in your mind he gave people soup, bread and milk. Thee are many instances in the Bible were important biblical figures kill animals. Abraham was asked by God himself to kill a goat instead of his own son. God asked him to kill an animal.

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Good for you. I hope you enjoy a nice healthy diet without meat plus you feel good about not killing an animal. I have a friend that is also a vegetarian and he doesn't eat meat because of the killing also (not God related). He never makes judgments about meat eaters and that do including his new wife. We eat what we want as far as he is concerned. He holds barbecues at his house. Not only does he have lots of veggie stuff cooked and served he also buys meat to serve his guests. Never judge anyone for what they put on their plates.

It is useless to discussion with the priest about this issue.

Their should know it and it is their obligation to talk to people about it.
