Do you usually go to the Cinema for a movie or wait till it comes out on DVD? I used to go to the Cinema often but now I prefer my home theatre and most of my friends are the same, so just curious about the rest of you.

(disclaimer - I searched but didnt find a post like this so forgive me if its been done)

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Depends how big the movie is, if its something eveyone should see then Ill go to the cinema, but if its something I find myself in no rush for, Im usually content to wait til its bargain bucket material.

Its around £7 a seat at the cinema here, so with snacks etc you are talking the better part of maybe £12-£15, depending how big you wanna go. For that price I can buy the dvd and have the luxury of pause/rewinds and limitless bathroom breaks.

(Plus no one can stop me watching the movie in my undies if the mood takes me!)

I go to the cinema about 3 times a month (on a good month ;)).

I much perfer seeing a good movie on the big screen. I usually buy the DVD anyway when it comes out to watch it again if I liked the movie, so I like both, but I perfer the cinema.

:hatsoff:

Haven't been inside a theater since 300's opening week. Haven't really cared to overpay for anything since... I did want to see Taken, but fuck man, it's too expensive. I have a decent setup anyway, and if I REALLY want power, I'll go to my parents' house.

If you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings including this one.
There are just some movies that no matter how good your home system is(unless you a pro athlete and have a theater in your home),there is really nothing that can compare to going to the theater to see a movie. This is particularly evident with action movies and movies that have complex sound effects. You can have the best Bose system you want, but if your viewing room isn't at least half way sound proofed, then you're just not gonna be as good as theater sound.

I remember watching the movie Sunshine in the theater,in certain parts,it feels like you are actually engulfed by the light on screen. You just can't duplicate that at home, unless you are a mega-baller,of course.

here in montreal you usually get movie tickets for $5 or $6 on tuesdays or wednesdays. then all the yo-yo wannabe gangstas come out from the ghetto to see a movie with their ugly crackhoe girlfriends. on weekends the retard families with the annoying kids come out. so when i do go to the movies i make sure it's a monday - full price, no weekend= silence in the theater.

i don't buy DVDs/blurays though because you can watch everything online, one way or another. i don't have a home theater but my PC is hooked up to a 26" HDTV that i use as my regular monitor.

what the fuck you lookin at?
Home theater is by far the way to go. Fuck the over priced cinema. Though there are still movies that I like to watch at the cinema, just for that movie theater experience. But I prefer my home theater!

I'm content just downloading movies here at my place and watching them without spending money. However, there are 2 movies that I probably will go and see are Terminator: Salvation and Transformers 2.

I actually really wish I could have seen this one in the theater... Such an amazing movie.

persona non grata
I have only watched movies at home the last couple of years. I don´t like watching movies with other people to begin with, and it doesn´t help that i always seem to end up sitting next to a group of teens where at least two of them are retarded and need every event in the movie explained to them by their friends.

I can set my own custom title!
I rarely ever go to the movies these days, as I just find them to be overpriced and not good value for money when you can wait a couple of months and get the film on DVD for the same price as you can see the movie once.
