City Workers & Lack Of Courtesy...

ChefChiTown

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
I don't know how it works where you live, but I just noticed something that came as a pretty big surprise to me.

I was just sitting here, going about my daily routine of watching TV, browsing the internet and whacking off, when I noticed a truck that had parked itself outside of the front of my house (actually, my parents' house). It stayed parked there for a while, so I began to grow a bit curious. After a few minutes, I looked at the truck and saw that it was a city truck, being driven by a city employee.

So, a man eventually got out of the truck and then started walking up our driveway, towards our backyard. When he got to the backyard, he just started looking at all of the trees and wires that are present in our backyard. He walked around our backyard for quite a few minutes, just observing things in our yard. Then, he went back to his truck, pulled out a big ladder, took it to our backyard, set it up underneath one of our trees, climbed up it and started touching a bunch of branches.

Now, he never knocked or rang our doorbell to see if anyone was home. He just went about his business as if it was cool to just waltz around our property, putting his hands on our shit like we wouldn't mind it. I don't know about you, but that pisses me off.

I don't care that he was doing his job, but he could've at least knocked on the door and informed us as to why he was here, you know? But, he chose to avoid being courteous and just went about his business as if it were no big deal. Is it like that everywhere or is it just here?

Do your city employees just do whatever they want without informing you, even if it's on the property that you own? Or, do they give you notice of what they are doing before they do it?

I see you've become acquainted with bureaucracy. Don't worry, it's not just where you live. They pull the same shit in California and in Mexico. It's some sort of job requirement for people who work for the city. :hatsoff:

A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke.
I totally understand your point of view Chef, but look at it from their perspective. If they knocked on everyone's door they'd have idiots following them around, telling them how to do their job, complaining about potholes down the road and Obama and property taxes, wanting to know what they're doing and why they're doing it, etc etc
You can't really blame them too much for wanting to go about their work unnoticed and unhindered.

Aside from trespassing on my private property being illegal and the lack of courtesy by not notifiying me of their presence, I don't have a problem with people doing their jobs. But, it only takes a minute to knock on the door to let somebody know that you work for the city and that you will be doing some sort of observation work in their yard.

Oh, I should also mention this about the city I live in (maybe it's everybody here that is discourteous)...

I ordered Domino's pizza last week and when the delivery man arrived, he didn't knock on our door or ring our doorbell - he just opened the front screen door and stood there until somebody noticed him.

Just the other night, I ordered Domino's pizza again and the same guy happened to be working that night. Once again, instead of knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell, he just opened the front screen door - or, at least he tried to; it was locked. I heard him jiggling at the door, but...no knock and no ring. So, when I went to the door, I said "Oh, is our doorbell broken?" and he said "I think so..."

I then pressed the doorbell and it worked perfectly fine. I mean, is it really that hard to do...press a doorbell? Who just opens up people's doors? Seriously...:dunno:

It seems to me that the city worker was acting illegally and needed to get permission to walk on your property. If the trees were on city property which happened to be next to you yard, then he wouldn't have to inform you.

I think you have the right to gripe.

The pizza douche just has no manners. :dunno:

Sounds like my kind of work!

No shit! I hate when people look over my shoulder while I'm working.
