Thanks for the link  ,there were 31 problems on my pc
thanks man :hatsoff:

:wave2: Glad the software found them all too - occupational hazard of browsing adult sites. XP Service pack 2 comes with built in activex blockers, but older windows versions (and unpatched XP installs) are vulnerable.
I've just checked out a friends computer that was running slow - he had 2500 bits of spyware running!!

If you're using Internet Explorer and Spybot, don't forget you can 'immunise' the explorer with Spybot. Although not foolproof, it helps stop a lot of bad activex controls etc.

Although it's not really about cleaning your hard drive, might be worth checking out Firefox. I don't use it, but it's an Internet browser that's a lot more secure than Internet Explorer.
Read more about it in the Firefox thread:

http://board.freeones.com/showthread.php?t=28841

And if you're interested in more downloads or information, check out Spybot's link page:

http://www.spybot.info/en/links/index.html

If I find any more software that might be useful, I'll stick it in the thread. Think most sites are okay, but occasionally you find a free host that'll try to bombard you with Trojans, Diallers or Viruses.

Do any of these downloads bring with them any type of spyware? I dl'd the Suredelete, but have not opened and installed it yet.

:wave2: Nope, none come with any spyware - I'll only post a software link if I know they're spyware/adware free ('cos I hate that stuff).
If I found a genuinely useful bit of software that included Adware, I might post the link - but make it clear that it was adware sponsored. (Haven't found anything useful with Adware yet, always a free alternative somewhere).

Pest Patrol's online scan does identify a component of Eraser as spyware - but if you research it, it actually seems to have confused one of the filenames. Eraser gives you the facility to create a 'nuke disc' - one that runs from DOS to erase the hard drive. Unfortunately, there's also spyware called 'nuke', so think it's confusing the 2.

Before I post any software links, I install it, then run Spybot, Adaware, A Squared and Pest Patrol (online). Also run a full virus scan (just in case).

So Suredelete's safe to install - I think Microsoft gave it away with one of their software enhancement packs at one time (but I could be wrong).

Anyway, it's safe.
