Do this...the next tax season don't file any taxes and when the IRS contacts you regarding your failure to report your taxes, tell them you just decided you are a church and therefore exempt from law or tax and see how far you get.

Of course they don't but like my previous point for the purposes of tax exemption...they have their rules to establish an organization's status for tax exemption...including churches.
You come back was some nebulous suggestion that the g'ment has no say in religion...who suggested they did other than determining church's exemption eligibility.
If you think they don't....test the system by calling yourself a church...since they have no say in anything relating to a church ...you should be able to claim that an face no repercussions.
If you do, I suppose that would prove the reverse...that they do.

As a Life Member of the NRA, I can promise people that we're not holding secret, nightly meetings so that we can march into Black neighborhoods and shoot anyone. I resent this babbling fool, as he butchers the English language, implying that the NRA is some sort of violent, fringe, White sumpremacist group. Charlton Heston was at the forefront of the Civil Rights movement in the '60's! And when Jim Crow laws were enacted, to prevent Black people from even owning firearms, it was northern (White!) NRA members who traveled south and taught the Blacks how to better use firearms, so they could defend themselves from the Klan.
Whether it's half witted Sarah Palin or this poorly educated, ignorant old man, the good (and bad) thing about America is that we allow everyone to have a voice. I wouldn't want it any other way. But in some cases, all you really have is someone with a little bit of knowledge... and a whole lot of mouth.

Dialects usually conform to a region not necessarily a race. For example, many southerners speak the same using the same vernacular, coloquialisms and slang irrespective of race.
All I see is entertainment value as the guy has no valid points (really, he doesn't). Every "point" he makes can be easily refuted nearly as fast as he makes it....even though he talks faster than Don King...In fact, that's who he most reminds me of.
And as far as a taxpayer revolt....what would it be based on? That taxation is unconstitutional? Well, I don't like taxation as much as the next man but the fact of the matter is the US Constitution authorizes Congress specifically the authority to "lay and collect taxes". Would it be based excessive taxation? We currently pay some of the lowest income tax rates in the history of income tax. So what would it be based on??

And people are wondering why Ammo sales are through the roof. Here is an idea, I can't pay my bills, feed my family, pay for my utilities but I am going to buy a new car. This is what our GOVERMENT is doing. They are spending money that we DON'T have. They are bailing out companies that made bad business decisions, this is just coporate welfare. Dem's are apprently not for small business as the coporate giants are getting the money, when they should be folding.
I know it has be 6 months since Obama has been in office, but when does the accountability happen? 2 years, 4 years, 10 years from now? Obama himself said that we need accountability and people need to be held to their actions, but he gets a free pass cause it's only been 6 months. Next time your at work start handing out free stuff to customers and when confronted just tell them it's OK I am new and see what happens. Obama wanted accountability and he should have been held accountable from 1/20/09.

I didn't buy into the make believe social excuses for bad behavior or ignorance then, and I don't buy into them now. And Bill Cosby calls that sort of misuse and abuse of the English language the "lazy mouth". He makes fun of it. Why can't I? If a person is a public speaker, he's over the age of 18 and he still doesn't know how to properly use nouns, verbs and adjectives in the native language, I have to question what else he doesn't know. It's been my experience that when a person sounds ignorant, quite often they are. I'm not picking on him because he's Black. And I wouldn't give him a break if he was an equally ignorant White person. I make fun of people equally, and without consideration to race, gender, creed or color. I just call 'em like I see 'em. Just give me a few minutes and I'll be riding Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton like a rented government mule too.

We do need to get out economy in order. We do need to get spending under control. We do need laws and controls that work and that make sense in the market place, without hampering continued growth. That was true 30 years ago and it's even more true today. And we do have social ills that need to be addressed. But it amazes me that people will take the most extreme, dissimilar example and claim that we're headed in that direction. :dunno:

Adoption of some lassez-faire economic policy and the reversal of student speech codes at the University of California is not going to magically restore american economic fortunes. The 1950's are not coming back. If there has been a god listening prayers this last 20 years it seems like he has been answering more of the Chinese ones concerning economic prosperity. Perhaps god is telling us to go to an authoritarian model.
On a side note this thread veered off to discuss the tax exemption status of the churches. This subject really deserves a thread of it's own.

Since WWII our government has always spent money "it didn't have". Shocking right?!?!? Not so much. Consider this, when you take out a mortgage or a car loan you are technically spending money you don't have as you are taking someone else's money to make a purchase for yourself. The calculus always is in those circumstances is whether the investment is worth it and will it pay off in the long run.
We've spent nearly a half a trillion dollars on Iraq and Afghanistan (money we didn't have)....You were just over there some years ago...the case could be made you took some of the money in wage that you're now complaining we didn't have to spend.
Why did we prop up the banks?? Well, when business needs to expand and potentially hire new workers..one of the ways they get the upfront capital is from banks. That's one of the reasons why some, including Obama, McCain and Bush decided to prop them up. You and others see it as giving them money...when in reality these are investment loans.
Obama never once commanded any bank, auto manufacture nor insurance giant to be absorbed by the Federal government. These businesses came to the government for assistance...before he ever took office BTW.
If you wanted to feed your family, pay your bills and ultimately buy yourself a car...you'd have to be 1 of 3 things, have independent money, own your own business or work for someone else. 2 of those 3 circumstances require bank involvement at some point.

In no way should a persons faith influence their judgments when it comes to running a country and nor should that person play upon their faith to get others who share his or her beliefs to along with their plans.
It's a shame that doesn't always work out that way.
