Hehe Like the title? Thank you.

I recently aquired an old game that requires Direct X 6 and DOS, but Im running with XP.

I also have another computer that is running with XP, but its basically crap to me. I was wondering if I could put Win 95 on the other computer without partitioning. Im not worried about saving data.

So the big questions are...

Can I put Win95 on a system that was built with XP?
Will Win95 come with DOS?
Will I be able to use my CD Drive if I do this?
Will this mess with the Sound Card at all? Will I be able to download Direct X 6.1 or higher (Except 9)

This is just for one game... I know it sounds crazy, but this game was like... The THING that I was gonna marry when I grew up.

In case your wondering... Its Might and Magic: World of Xeen.

Ive tried DOSBox... Its really laggy and the sound is screwed. And it freezes a lot.

The requirements for the game are thus:

Win95/98

Pentium 133 (P166 recommended)

32MB RAM

Vid and Sound card. Direct X 6.1

CD ROM 4x Speed

i have played many games that are for windows 95 on my xp machine, but, all i got was errors here and there afterwords. from what i know, this is becuase it effes up your registry, becuase some of the stuff from 95 ISENT in xp and the other way around. so the only problem you would have (i would think) is when you have to boot from DOS, as the 'command prompt' you open in windows isent true DOS. that might be why you got all the crappy sound, BUT remember, in those ooooold games most of them just made little beeps and such, and those sounds came from your computer, NOT you 5.1 surround sound speakers. so the sound will be crappy no matter what. so try booting from DOS. ie never entering windows from boot up. then try to run it. put it in your cd drive and open it through DOS, might work, might not. best of luck :)

XP doesn't come with DOS. It comes with Command Prompt. And this game is COMPLETELY DOS based. Its 16 Bit. Doesn't run in a window. So you can't even boot into DOS because it isn't even on the puter. Closest thing I can get to is BIOS.

The sound problems are coming from DOSBox because it doesn't have a good emulation of Soundblaster.

The game is 1994(Clouds)/1995(Darkside)/1996(World) and the company is 3DO. Unfortunately... 3DO (Even though I think it was a great company) didn't make it. So I can't get customer support and I doubt they'd make a patch for it.

Its not like the little beeping games like Kroz or Pacman. Or something. Its got full image 1/2 3d. (The not so 3d but not flat either. LOL)

Thanks for your help anyways though.
